Northeastern Pennsylvania’s Since the Fire have been grinding for over fifteen years. Relentless shows. Real emotional weight behind the music. New album Remains Embraced drops April 18th and I’ll just say it straight: this is heavier than I expected. Not just louder. Heavier. There’s a density to it. The riffs don’t just hit, they linger. Breakdowns land and actually feel earned instead of just placed there because “metalcore needs one.” And the melodic sections? They don’t soften the blow, they stretch the tension before snapping it tighter.

Since the Fire, originaire du nord-est de la Pennsylvanie, charbonne depuis plus de quinze ans. Des concerts incessants. Un véritable poids émotionnel derrière la musique. Le nouvel album Remains Embraced sort le 18 avril et je vais le dire franchement : c'est plus lourd que ce à quoi je m'attendais. Pas seulement plus fort. Plus lourd. Il y a une densité là-dedans. Les riffs ne se contentent pas de frapper, ils persistent. Les breakdowns tombent et semblent vraiment mérités, au lieu d'être simplement placés là parce que « le metalcore en a besoin d'un ». Et les sections mélodiques ? Elles n'adoucissent pas le coup, elles étirent la tension avant de la resserrer encore plus.

    People will throw out names like August Burns Red, The Black Dahlia Murder, or Lamb of God, but honestly comparisons don’t really capture it. This feels less like chasing a sound and more like a band that’s been doing this long enough to know exactly where they’re strongest, and doubling down on that. Production-wise, they clearly wanted clarity without sanding off the grit. Jeremy Loveland and Bryan Kilcommons on production, Anthony Caranata on mixing, Jesse Joseph handling mix and master: that’s a serious team.
    Les gens citeront des noms comme August Burns Red, The Black Dahlia Murder ou Lamb of God, mais honnêtement, les comparaisons ne captent pas vraiment l'essence du truc. On a moins l'impression d'un groupe qui court après un son, et plus d'un groupe qui fait ça depuis assez longtemps pour savoir exactement où sont ses points forts, et qui mise tout dessus. Côté production, ils voulaient clairement de la clarté sans pour autant gommer le grain. Jeremy Loveland et Bryan Kilcommons à la production, Anthony Caranata au mixage, Jesse Joseph au mix et mastering : c'est une sacrée équipe.
