RENNES, DEATH METAL PUR ET DUR

There's bands that rehearse in a garage. And then there's kids who forge their identity at 14, in Breton, with one obsession: pure Death Metal. Tanork. Rennes. Started 2019 when Eflam Castrec (guitar/vocals) met brothers Mael and Melaine Gautier, all from Breton-speaking schools. Early days they covered the classics: Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Sepultura, Slayer. The fuel. But they ditched covers fast and dove into their own darkness. Morbid Angel, Death, Suffocation guiding the way: direct death metal, organic, no frills.
Il y a des groupes qui répètent dans un garage. Et puis il y a des gamins qui forgent leur identité à 14 ans, en breton, avec une seule obsession : le pur Death Metal. Tanork. Rennes. Débuté en 2019 quand Eflam Castrec (guitare/chant) rencontre les frères Mael et Melaine Gautier, tous issus d'écoles Diwan. Au début, ils reprenaient les classiques : Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Sepultura, Slayer. Le carburant. Mais ils ont vite abandonné les reprises pour plonger dans leur propre noirceur. Morbid Angel, Death, Suffocation montrant la voie : un death metal direct, organique, sans chichis.
2021 they dropped the instrumental EP "Enhanced Surveillance." Raw. No vocals. Like a manifesto. Then 2023 brought the first album "Destined to Die…" mixing English and Breton, claiming regional language as a sonic weapon. Not a gimmick. A statement. 2024, drummer Morgann Lavaux joined and everything accelerated. 30+ shows in two years. Major festivals: Hellfest, Motocultor, Muscadeath. Breton and French stages adopted these kids-turned-war-machines. En 2021, ils sortent l'EP instrumental « Enhanced Surveillance ». Brut. Sans voix. Comme un manifeste. Puis 2023 apporte le premier album « Destined to Die… » mélangeant anglais et breton, revendiquant la langue régionale comme une arme sonore. Pas un gadget. Une déclaration. En 2024, le batteur Morgann Lavaux arrive et tout s'accélère. Plus de 30 concerts en deux ans. Des festivals majeurs : Hellfest, Motocultor, Muscadeath. Les scènes bretonnes et françaises ont adopté ces gamins devenus des machines de guerre.
Logo reworked by Doomer McGregor (same guy behind Hexecutor's), visual identity sharpened, Breton media backing them hard. Tanork doesn't play at being a folk band. They play Death Metal. Period. 2026 looks massive: second album entirely in Breton, European and UK tour in the works. Death now has an Armorican accent and honestly? It sounds terrifyingly good. Actually scratch that: it doesn't just sound good, it sounds necessary. Regional identity meeting extreme metal without compromise, that's rarer than you'd think.
Logo retravaillé par Doomer McGregor (le même gars derrière celui d'Hexecutor), identité visuelle affûtée, médias bretons en soutien total. Tanork ne joue pas à être un groupe folk. Ils jouent du Death Metal. Point final. 2026 s'annonce massif : deuxième album entièrement en breton, tournée européenne et britannique en préparation. La Mort a désormais un accent armoricain et honnêtement ? Ça sonne terriblement bien. En fait, oubliez ça : ça ne sonne pas juste bien, ça sonne nécessaire. L'identité régionale rencontrant le metal extrême sans compromis, c'est plus rare qu'on ne le pense.
