The production on Reborn in Blight has this raw, visceral grit that feels like it's physically eroding your eardrums. I was actually just settling in for the evening when "Fragments" came on, and within twenty seconds, I'd forgotten all about my plans. The chaotic, atmospheric intensity of that track is so thick you could practically cut it with a rusted blade.

Eastern Europe has been churning out some of the most terrifying brutal death metal lately, but Insect Inside just raised the stakes. Their second full-length, out now via Gore House Productions, is a grotesque evolution of their "insectoid" identity. We're talking about a world-building narrative where humanity collapses to make way for a dominant insect race, and the music sounds exactly as apocalyptic as that suggests.

The sound is massive: a fusion of groove-heavy slam and suffocating dark atmospheres. I was particularly floored by "Hiveborn Abomination," which features Josh Welshman of Defeated Sanity; it's one of those tracks where the technicality and the sheer weight of the groove collide in the most punishing way possible. They've moved away from the more polished "clean" sound of their debut, opting instead for a gritty, Discordant assault that feels much more dangerous. "Dangerous" isn't the right word. It's an infestation.

Ils se sont éloignés du son plus poli et « clean » de leurs débuts, optant plutôt pour un assaut discordant et granuleux qui semble bien plus dangereux. « Dangereux » n'est pas le bon mot. I'm pretty sure my neighbors are currently wondering if their walls are being torn down by some kind of subterranean swarm. From the slam-laden "Abhorrent Landscape" (featuring Cephalotripsy's Mr. Ochoa) to the closing title track, which even features the band's first-ever guitar solo, the songwriting is incredibly focused. It manages to be poetic in its bleakness while still delivering those "sledgehammer breaks" that make you want to put your head through a wall.

Du lourd « Abhorrent Landscape » (avec Mr. Ochoa de Cephalotripsy) au morceau-titre final, qui comporte même le premier solo de guitare du groupe, l'écriture est incroyablement focalisée. Elle parvient à être poétique dans sa noirceur tout en délivrant ces « breaks au marteau » qui donnent envie de défoncer un mur.
