SYMPHONIC SCALE OVER INDIAN DUST
"Throne," the new digital single from Indian progressive deathcore outfit Dark Helm, which dropped on June 6th, 2026. The crew has followed these guys for a bit because of how they usually inject weird Middle Eastern and ethnic instruments into extreme metal, so this new self-released track immediately threw us for a loop.

L'équipe suit ces gars depuis un moment à cause de leur habitude d'injecter des instruments moyen-orientaux et ethniques dans le metal extrême, donc ce nouveau morceau auto-produit nous a complètement déconcertés.
They've basically ditched a lot of that raw, regional dust to go full cinematic. The press kit compares them to Fleshgod Apocalypse, Shadow of Intent, and Septicflesh, and honestly, they aren't kidding about the scale. The track hits you with these massive, booming orchestral arrangements right next to technical deathcore riffs and deep, extreme vocals. I actually replayed the middle section twice because the wall of sound gets so dense with the symphonic layering that I couldn't tell if I was listening to a band or a film score. It definitely feels huge, but a few of the guys in the room missed the weird ethnic textures that used to make them stand out from the endless ocean of modern deathcore bands. Still, the technical musicianship holds the brutality together, even when the grand orchestrations threaten to completely swallow the guitars.
Ils ont largement abandonné cette poussière régionale brute pour devenir totalement cinématographiques. Le dossier de presse les compare à Fleshgod Apocalypse, Shadow of Intent et Septicflesh, et honnêtement, ils ne plaisantent pas sur l'ampleur. Le morceau vous frappe avec ces arrangements orchestraux massifs et tonitruants juste à côté de riffs deathcore techniques et de voix extrêmes profondes. J'ai dû réécouter la section centrale deux fois parce que le mur du son devient si dense avec les couches symphoniques que je ne savais plus si j'écoutais un groupe ou une bande originale de film. C'est définitivement énorme, mais quelques-uns dans la pièce ont regretté les textures ethniques étranges qui les faisaient sortir de l'océan infini des groupes de deathcore modernes. Pourtant, le talent technique maintient la brutalité ensemble, même quand les grandes orchestrations menacent d'engloutir complètement les guitares.
