PERTH QUINTET DELIVERS STRAIGHTFORWARD, RIFF‑DRIVEN 80S HEAVY METAL WITH SOARING VOCALS
Following up on their debut single "Rescue" from early June, Perth quintet Amarax returns with "Dream Prison", a track built on loud, straight‑ahead 80s heavy metal. While their upcoming full‑length album still doesn't have an official release date, there's no mistaking what they're going for here. I was curious to see if they could match the energy of their debut, and "Dream Prison" gets straight to the point. Driven by galloping guitar riffs and dual‑lead harmonizations, the song relies heavily on Ama Quinsee's vocals, carrying a powerful, soaring clean range with obvious echoes of classic 80s voices like Doro or Dio. The crisp dual‑guitar solo in the middle section feels right at home alongside classic NWOBHM or early US power metal records.

Bien que leur prochain album complet n'ait pas encore de date de sortie officielle, il n'y a aucun doute sur ce qu'ils visent ici. J'étais curieux de voir s'ils pouvaient égaler l'énergie de leurs débuts, et « Dream Prison » va droit au but. Porté par des riffs de guitare galopants et des harmonisations à deux guitares, le morceau repose lourdement sur la voix d'Ama Quinsee, qui porte une gamme claire puissante et ascendante avec des échos évidents des voix classiques des années 80 comme Doro ou Dio. A lot of bands attempting this traditional style end up sounding like a sterile cover act, but Amarax manages to keep the rhythm section punchy and the production raw enough to feel genuine. If this kind of straightforward, riff‑driven heavy metal still does it for you, turn this one up. It deserves the volume.
Beaucoup de groupes qui tentent ce style traditionnel finissent par sonner comme un groupe de reprise stérile, mais Amarax parvient à garder une section rythmique percutante et une production assez brute pour sembler authentique. Si ce genre de heavy metal direct et axé sur les riffs vous parle encore, montez le son. Il mérite le volume.
