Upcoming Release: Chris Horses & The Slow Smoke - "Nowhere Bound"
ITALIAN SOUTHERN ROCK & AMERICANA THAT FEELS AUTHENTIC, WARM AND REMARKABLY GROUNDED
Seeing an Italian address on a Southern rock and Americana release always raises a slight eyebrow at first. But a few bars into Nowhere Bound, any doubt about authenticity just vanishes. I put this on expecting a standard, polished tribute to 70s Southern rock, but by the third song, I had completely forgotten the band was Italian. Cristian "Chris Horses" Secco and his crew don't treat country rock like a foreign costume. Somewhere in the middle of the record, it stops sounding like an homage and starts sounding like its own thing: warm, steady, and remarkably grounded.

Je l'ai mis en pensant entendre un hommage standard et poli au Southern rock des années 70, mais dès la troisième chanson, j'avais complètement oublié que le groupe était italien. Cristian « Chris Horses » Secco et son équipe ne traitent pas le country rock comme un costume étranger. Quelque part au milieu de l'album, cela cesse de sonner comme un hommage et commence à sonner comme quelque chose d'unique : chaleureux, stable et remarquablement ancré.

What kept me listening all the way through is how unhurried the whole album feels. The guitar interplay between Chris and Gianluca Zanibellato takes its time, shifting naturally from quiet acoustic moments into loose, bluesy electric lines. Recording in Padua and mastering over in Santa Fe with Jono Manson gave the sound a very natural, open feel; you can almost picture an empty road at sunset while listening to it. I really didn't expect to enjoy this album as much as I did, but by the time the last track ended, I immediately wanted to hit play again. If you're into Blackberry Smoke, Jason Isbell, or classic Neil Young, give this one a spin.
Ce qui m'a fait écouter jusqu'au bout, c'est à quel point l'album semble tranquille. L'interaction entre les guitares de Chris et Gianluca Zanibellato prend son temps, passant naturellement de moments acoustiques calmes à des lignes électriques bluesy et décontractées. L'enregistrement à Padoue et le mastering à Santa Fe avec Jono Manson ont donné au son une sensation très naturelle et ouverte ; on peut presque imaginer une route déserte au coucher du soleil en l'écoutant. Je ne m'attendais vraiment pas à apprécier cet album autant que je l'ai fait, mais quand le dernier morceau s'est terminé, j'ai immédiatement voulu remettre play. Si vous aimez Blackberry Smoke, Jason Isbell ou le Neil Young classique, jetez-y une oreille.
