Irreverence is an Italian metal band founded in 1995 by Riccardo Paioro, who teamed up with Davide Firinu. The band quickly released their first demos in 1998 and 1999 before signing with STONEHENGE RECORDS to release their debut album, Totally Negative Thoughts, in 2001. After several lineup changes, they released the EP Target: Hate in 2003, followed by the album War Was Won in 2005.
In 2007, Irreverence released a Best-Of compilation, selling over 2,500 copies, and recorded a cover of Beermuda for a TANKARD tribute album. The band then signed with NOISEHEAD RECORDS and released Upon These Ashes in 2010, featuring a guest appearance by Tom Angelripper of SODOM. After more lineup changes, they released Shreds of Humanity in 2014 under NADIR MUSIC, followed by a European tour.
Their 20th anniversary in 2015 was celebrated with a special show in Milan, followed by the release of their first live album, Raise Chaos Live in Milan, in 2016. In 2018, they released the single Blind Times and the concept album Still Burns, inspired by the film La Haine. After further lineup shifts, they recorded the EP Scapegoat in 2020, and their latest album, Forsaken, was released in April 2024.
