DUSTBORN: Rising from the Ashes with a Blackened Roar

Ever heard of a band that thrives on chaos? Meet DUSTBORN, a Czech sextet that’s been through more lineup shuffles than a poker table, yet still cranks out symphonic death metal with the grit of a post-apocalyptic warlord. Born from the ashes of Desire for Sorrow, these guys (Jon, Johny, Vlajda, Dan, Aaron, and Venca) started strong with their 2018 EP MMXVIII. But hold up, did you know the CD version sneaks in a bonus instrumental track? Talk about a hidden gem!
Just as they geared up for their 2019 debut Dethroned, guitarist Aaron and vocalist Venca ghosted. Enter guitar wizard Marek Ciml and frontman Johny, who stepped up like a mic-drop prophet. The result? A critcally adored album (shoutout to Metalgate Records) that even snagged a Ceny Britva nod. Not bad for a band held together by duct tape and determination.
Post-release, Tom joined as axeman, injecting “new blood” into their veins. They dropped River Stained Red, a music video so sharp it could slice through steel, courtesy of Mejla Basel (yeah, the dude who’s worked with Machine Head). Then… silence. Thanks, pandemic. But DUSTBORN didn’t just survive lockdown, they weaponized it. By 2022, they resurfaced with live-recorded singles The Sun God and Hodina, teasing a shift from symphonic grandeur to raw, blackened ferocity.
Fast-forward to 2023: New material, darker than a Norwegian winter, brewing in the Ambit 1084 studio. Their upcoming LP (out Oct 10, 2024) nods to old-school black metal but tosses in genre-bending riffs like confetti. CD drops a month later because vinyl’s cool, but so is defiance.
DUSTBORN’s journey’s a rollercoaster: Part chaos, part triumph. Their sound? Imagine Emperor jamming with a sci-fi novelist. If their new album’s half as resilient as their story, we’re in for a masterpiece. Keep an eye on these Czech rebels.
