MORITURI: For Those About to Die
Blackened Thrash That Rips, Shreds, and Bites

Austria’s MORITURI just dropped a beast with For Those About to Die (May 22, 2025 – Kvlt und Kaos), and it’s like they threw a flaming trash can into the thrash scene. This isn’t a debut, it’s a riot.
Imagine Skeletonwitch on speed, Aura Noir in a street fight, and Nifelheim screaming curses in Latin. Eleven tracks, all muscle, no fluff. Riffs? Mean as hell. Vocals? Pure spite. Drums? Like a jackhammer with a grudge. This is the kind of record that makes your furniture vibrate.
Guitarist Engl puts it best: “This record’s a war cry ; every song’s a weapon!”
Well yeah, mission accomplished.
Opener kicks the door in, and it doesn’t let up. Mid-album grooves are nasty, and the closer basically dares you to keep your headphones on. (Spoiler: they might not survive.)
Lineup’s tight: Paul Fürli (vocals), Zimmermann & Engl (guitars), Fürnschuss (bass), Scheidl (drums). Produced by Mephisto Schick, who somehow made chaos sound crisp. Artwork? Hannah M. Neschmach nailed it: looks like a nightmare in flames. CD has a 16-page booklet too. Hell yes.
I played this while “cooking” (burnt toast), and the kitchen felt like a mosh pit.
Uncompromising, gnarly, and loud as hell. Don’t sleep on this band, they’re coming for blood.
