Osiris Rex’s Thrash Resurrection: New Dawn, Disco Meltdown!

Finland’s Osiris Rex just unleashed their self-released EP Arrival of the New Dawn (June 18, 2025), and whoa! it’s like a chainsaw through velvet! Born from Tornado’s ashes, this Tampere titans, spearheaded by Yankee vocal beast Superstar Joey Severance, serve up 4 tracks of old-school thrash sprinkled with modern spice. But hold up: they’ve flipped Donna Summer’s "Hot Stuff" into a mosh-pit anthem. Icy disco meets molten metal? Genius or madness? Both, folks.

Recorded in Helsinki’s Imperial Cassette (shoutout to producer/Ben Varon, who nailed rhythm guitars/bass!), mixed in Tampere by Aleksis Pelli, and drum-crushed by Oskari Niemi, this EP’s raw energy’s infectious. Original members Severance and bassist Henry Steel team with new axe-wielders V. Grave and John Creweholm: talk about a phoenix rising! Tracks? Opener "Arrival of the New Dawn" storms in like a Valkyrie, "Lone Wolf Terror" shreds eardrums and that Donna cover? It’s so wrong it’s right. Jana Vé’s cover art? Stunning. Nadja Tonkoshkur’s band pics? Brutal beauty.

These Finns ain’t just echoing Exodus or Megadeth: they’re carving their own crypt. Frenetic, fun, and unapologetically fierce. If you skip this, what’re ya, asleep? Dive in!
