Wrath of Belial Unleash “Atonement” - A Death Metal Lick to the Modern Soul

You know a band’s got something when they don’t just release a song, but drop a full-blown manifesto. Wrath of Belial have done exactly that with their new lyric video for Atonement, taken from their 2025 album Embers of Dead Empires. And let me tell you, this one doesn’t come soft.

From the first riff, it’s clear: these Danes mean business. Atonement is no filler track, it’s the meat in the middle of the album, where the band really leans into their brutal side. The drums hammer like a war drum on speed, and Kasper B. Hornstrup’s vocals cut through like a rusty knife. It’s not just heavy, it’s angry, sarcastic, and dripping with contempt for whatever modern culture thinks it stands for.

Lyrically, it’s a gut punch. There’s no subtlety here ; just raw, unfiltered commentary on how society keeps spinning in circles while pretending to change. You can almost hear the growl in the background saying, “Yeah right, we’ve seen this before.” And if you’ve ever felt that way, you’ll nod along. Hard.

Produced by Mendel bij de Leij (Aborted, Cytotoxin), Embers of Dead Empires is a tight, focused beast. With session help from Bastian Thusgaard (Soilwork) and Alex Bossen (OXX), plus killer engineering from Jacob Bredahl, the album sounds big, sharp, and aggressive... just how death metal should be.

The visuals in the Atonement video match the tone perfectly: dark, chaotic, and slightly absurd. It’s the kind of clip you want to blast at 3 AM while staring out the window wondering why your cat hates you.

All in all, Wrath of Belial are back and better than ever. They’ve taken the best bits of old-school brutality and added enough technical flair to keep even the most jaded heads nodding. If you haven’t checked them out yet, now’s the time.
