Mile High Power Fest 2025

Denver’s Metal Scene Just Leveled Up: Mile High Power Fest 2025 Is Coming Hard

Forget your yoga retreats and silent hikes through the Rockies! This August, the mountains will tremble to the sound of double-kick drums and soaring falsettos. Mile High Power Fest 2025 is back on August 16th at The Oriental Theater, and it’s not just a concert, it’s a full-on fantasy siege with amps cranked to Valhalla.

Headlined by PowerGlove, yes, that instrumental power metal nerds who turn 8-bit bleeps into epic orchestral battles, the fest kicks off with a nostalgia bomb stronger than a level 9 fireball. Their 2024 EP The Super Smash Bros proves they’re still the undisputed champions of “wait, that was a Mario theme?!”

But don’t think this is just a retro cosplay party. Glyph from the Pacific Northwest arrives like a warship from another galaxy, literally. These self-proclaimed interstellar mercenaries dropped Honor, Power, Glory earlier this year, a concept album so rich in lore you’ll need a wiki to keep up. And musically? Think Manowar meets Battlelore with a side of sci-fi steroids.

Then there’s Owlbear, a band forged in plague times (2020, we see you) and baptized in Chicago’s molten metal scene. With members from across North America and a debut album rooted in D&D and Final Fantasy, their upcoming Feather & Claw (Feb '25) promises more speed, more chaos, and vocals that could summon a storm elemental.

Philly’s Empress bring the symphonic thunder with Fateweaver, an album Dan Swanö himself called one of his finest melodic metal mixes. These guys don’t just play songs: they score sagas. And Denver’s own Celestial Wizard? They’re the hometown wizards blending death metal grit with power metal glory, fresh off their Regenesis release, a concept record about rebirth, destruction, and looking damn cool while doing it.

New singer Anthony Corso leads Greyhawk into battle with Thunderheart, a 2024 album that’s been stomping through the traditional metal underground like a war golem. Meanwhile, Oak, Ash & Thorn, now signed to Season of Mist, bring pagan fury and poetic rage, proving Denver’s blackened edge is sharper than ever.

And yes, the local flame is alive. Viperwitch and Signs of Tranquility won 2024’s Battle of the Bands, earning their spot on the main stage. That pre-fest showdown isn’t just a warm-up; it’s a launchpad, with industry vets handing real feedback, not just participation trophies.

Born from a post-concert epiphany by Soren Bray (of Celestial Wizard fame) and powered by Lucyfer’s BiteSize Productions, MHPF isn’t just another festival. It’s a statement: power metal has a home in the Rockies, loud, proud, and unapologetically fantastical.

This isn’t just a show. It’s a summoning.
