Reaping Asmodeia - "Sanctuary of Poison"

What's New: Reaping Asmodeia

Reaping Asmodeia Slips Into the Shadows With "Sanctuary of Poison"

Reaping Asmodeia aren’t here to impress with theatrics. They’re the kind of band that drills into your cortex with precision, not noise. And their new single, Sanctuary of Poison, out via Blood Blast, is their most focused strike yet.

Not quite the chaotic storm you might expect from the Minneapolis deathcore scene, this track leans into a slower, nastier groove, think 9-string downtuning turned into a weapon. There’s still the expected technical frenzy, sure, but what stands out is the weight. The riffs drag like chains through tar, and Eric Keyes’ vocals, his first with the band on record, feel both controlled and unhinged. He’s no newcomer; he’s been part of the Midwest underground for years, and it shows.

This isn’t just another “brutal” drop. It’s the second piece in a planned trilogy, following Shattered Leviathan, and it suggests a band tightening their vision. The production, handled by Adam Tucker, Mike Byrne, and Zack Ohren (Suffocation, All Shall Perish), is crisp without being sterile. You can feel the room, the breath, the tension.

The lyric video it’s stark, rhythmic, almost ritualistic, like the music itself. No fireworks, just atmosphere. And that fits. Reaping Asmodeia have never been about spectacle. Even with Jakub Kingery back on bass, the lineup shifts feel less like drama and more like a recalibration.

Formed back in 2010 and rooted in death and black metal’s colder corners, they’ve spent years sharpening their sound. Now, with Sanctuary of Poison, they’re not just flexing muscle, they’re showing intent.
Worth your time? Absolutely. Especially if you value dynamics over demolition.
