Let’s cut the bullshit. After 80 dates, even the best tourbus feels like a confession booth. And that’s exactly where Coilguns drop you with Nightshifter: a song so raw it sounds like someone left their phone in the washing machine and just pressed play.
 
Recorded in Norway’s Ocean Sounds studio (because why not?) with Scott Evans (Kowloon Walled City) at the helm, this four-minute collapse of emotion is less about noise and more about exhaustion. The tuning? Off-kilter on purpose. The tempo? Like walking through a dream where your legs are made of wet concrete. It’s not heavy, it’s worn out.
 
Louis Jucker’s voice? Not screamed. Not shouted. Just… tired. “You’re standing at your door, keys in a bag full of stinky clothes…” That line? It’s not poetry. It’s trauma dressed as a Tuesday night. You know that moment when you finally get home, but nothing feels real anymore? When the fridge has only one sad carrot left? Yeah. That’s Nightshifter.
 
The song was born from the same sessions as Odd Love, but somehow too bleak, too personal, too real to fit the album’s newfound energy. So they tucked it away, until now. With Lost Love, their new EP (vinyl & digital, 26 Sept via Humus Records), they’re not apologizing for being dark. They’re honoring it. Two tracks. One mood. No filters. No pretense.
 
Evans didn’t just mix it, he prescribed it. His “Sad Dude Core” isn’t a genre. It’s a survival tactic. For musicians who’ve spent years chasing meaning through noise, this is the antidote: cry, sleep, do laundry, write a new song. Repeat.
 
And yes, they’re still on tour, 80 dates, Mexico included. But this single? It’s not hype. It’s a whisper in the backseat of a van, late at night, wondering if any of it ever mattered.
