What's New: Traversus
Traversus drop their second EP and it’s not just good, it’s right.

No grand declarations. No “revolutionary” nonsense. Just a tight, thoughtful slab of progressive rock/metal that feels like it was made by people who actually care about songs, not just vibes.
Navigate is out September 12th ; self-released, which means it’s pure, unfiltered Traversus. And honestly? That’s the best kind of release. No label interference, no forced trends. Just Joey Wessels’ precise riffs, Liam de Groot’s locked-in grooves, and Madelief de Groot’s voice: calm, clear, and carrying weight without shouting.
The band’s from a tiny town in the Dutch east, where the nearest decent venue might be two hours away. That isolation probably helped them focus. Their sound walks a line: complex enough for prog nerds, catchy enough for anyone who likes a good chorus. Think early Karnivool meets Leprous with a touch of Alter Bridge’s emotional precision, but less polished, more human.
Lyrics dig into anxiety, mental health, the slow decay of modern life. Not preachy. Not dramatic. Just real. The track “Headline Anxiety” hits like a breath held too long. “When The World Goes To Waste” doesn’t scream apocalypse, it whispers it.
Recorded with Joost van den Broek (yes, that one) at Sandlane, with extra love from Jos Driessen on drums and Ian G on guitar. It’s clean, but not sterile. You can hear the room, the breaths between notes.
This isn’t an “epic journey.” It’s a quiet walk through something heavy, with someone you trust beside you.
If you’ve ever sat in a dim room, headphones on, wondering if things will get better… this one’s for you.
