Into the Abyss: GUTTED SOULS Return with “Zero-Sum Overlords”

Brazil’s GUTTED SOULS just dropped “Zero-Sum Overlords,” the first taste of their album Portals to Chaosium and it’s not here to make friends.
Born from the ashes of NECROPEDOPHILE (yes, really), the band has been grinding through the underground since 2004, morphing from gore-obsessed death metal à la Cannibal Corpse into a more twisted, technical beast. Think Suffocation meets Krisiun, with a dash of existential dread and a boot to the face.
The new record, out Sept 26 via Via Nocturna, is a 10-track descent into cosmic horror, media rot, and transhumanist nightmares. It’s brutal, sure, but also weirdly thoughtful: breakdowns crash into proggy solos, blastbeats give way to mid-tempo stomps, and the whole thing feels like a fever dream scored by Immolation and Origin.
Iron (vocals) remains the last original member standing, backed by a lineup that clearly knows its way around a fretboard and a blast zone. Recorded by Victor Mendonça (ex-Lacerated and Carbonized), with custom guitars from Carreiro Guitars and artwork by Aeon Artwork, Portals to Chaosium is shaping up to be a serious slab of death metal: no gimmicks, no filler, just pure sonic decay.
CD orders via Via Nocturna. Digital release also incoming. Don’t sleep.
