Richmond’s own Symphony of Destiny just fired off their debut single Exile of Horus and… honestly? I wasn’t expecting that.

Symphony of Destiny, originaire de Richmond, vient de balancer leur tout premier single « Exile of Horus »… et putain, je m’y attendais pas du tout.

Imagine someone smashing Nightwish, Epica and a bit of industrial grime into the same blender, then yelling “whatever, more drama!” while it explodes. That’s the vibe. A full mythological punch in the teeth, riffs swinging like a warhammer and orchestration so massive you could swear an entire pyramid just woke up. Anne Dueweke goes full operatic mode here, like, “might actually crack a window if she pushes too hard” level, while Wesley Eldridge throws down these sharp, almost theatrical guitar lines that shouldn’t work together… but somehow do.

Imagine Nightwish, Epica et une poignée de boue industrielle broyés dans le même mixeur, avec quelqu’un qui hurle « peu importe, plus de drame ! » juste avant l’explosion. Voilà l’ambiance. Un uppercut mythologique en pleine gueule, des riffs qui frappent comme des marteaux de guerre, et une orchestration si immense que tu jureras qu’une pyramide vient de se réveiller. Anne Dueweke bascule en mode opératique absolu, genre « si elle pousse encore, elle casse les vitres ». Pendant ce temps, Wesley Eldridge balance des lignes de guitare tranchantes, presque théâtrales, qui n’ont pas le droit de coller ensemble… et pourtant, bordel, ça marche.

 

Tom Wright’s keys drift between ghostly and majestic (sometimes in the same bar, which is wild), and Patrick’s drumming jumps from proggy finesse to straight-up industrial stomp. It’s messy in the good way. The way that feels alive. They’ve been stirring things up in Central Virginia since March, The Canal Club, Fallout and they headlined Riffhouse Pub on November 29 for the release show. People said the walls shook. I kinda believe it.

Les claviers de Tom Wright flottent entre le spectral et le majestueux (parfois dans la même mesure, ce qui est complètement dingue), et la batterie de Patrick passe d’une finesse prog ciselée à un marteau-pilon industriel. C’est le bazar, mais le bon bazar. Celui qui te rappelle que la musique, ça vit, ça respire, ça tremble. Ils foutent le feu à la scène de la Virginie centrale depuis mars : The Canal Club, Fallout… et ils ont carrément headliné le Riffhouse Pub le 29 novembre pour la release. On dit que les murs ont tremblé. Et franchement… j’y crois.

 

If you’ve been waiting for a symphonic metal track with big drama but not the usual cheesy nonsense (you know exactly what I mean…), this is prob’ly the one. Exile of Horus isn’t just a debut: it’s basically them saying, “Yeah, we’re here. Deal with it or don’t.” Do yourself a favor: hit play, crank it stupid loud, and let the mythology chew on you a bit.

Si t’attendais un morceau de metal symphonique dramatique… mais sans le niaisage habituel (tu sais très bien de quoi je parle…), ben voilà ton morceau. « Exile of Horus » n’est pas juste un premier pas : c’est leur façon de dire « On est là. Assure-toi ou casse-toi. » Fais-toi un plaisir : clique play, monte le son à fond, et laisse la mythologie te dévorer.
