Eight months after Camel and Brass Camel are like “nah, we’re not done”. New stuff, new single, new video. No breathing room. I like that.

Huit mois après Camel et Brass Camel sont comme “non, on n’a pas fini”. De nouvelles choses, un nouveau single, une nouvelle vidéo. Pas de répit. J’aime ça.

“Ice Cold” drops and it’s… not progtastic. At all. That was the itch they scratched on Camel, six tracks, very heady, very “let’s get this out of our system”. This time they went another way. Funkier. Tighter. Looser, weirdly. Deep-pocket grooves, 70’s sweat, riffs that don’t overthink things. My ears say funk-rock, my neck says move.

"Ice Cold" sort et c’est… pas du tout progtastic. Pas du tout. C’était la démangeaison qu’ils ont apaisée sur Camel, six morceaux, très intellectuel, très “libérons-nous”. Cette fois, ils ont pris une autre direction. Plus funky. Plus serré. Plus libre, bizarrement. Des grooves profonds, une sueur des années 70, des riffs qui ne se posent pas trop de questions. Mes oreilles disent funk-rock, mon cou dit bouge.

They teamed up with Terry Brown (yeah, that Terry Brown ; Rush, Hendrix, The Who) and Kevin Comeau from Crown Lands. That combo alone should ring bells. And it does. The sound feels road-worn, lived-in. Like amps still warm. I swear I can almost smell the studio wood and stale coffee here.

Ils ont collaboré avec Terry Brown (ouais, ce Terry Brown ; Rush, Hendrix, The Who) et Kevin Comeau de Crown Lands. Cette combinaison seule devrait faire sonner des cloches. Et c’est le cas. Le son semble usé par la route, vécu. Comme des amplis encore chauds. Je jurerais que je peux presque sentir le bois du studio et le café rassis ici.

The video? Ice hockey vibes. Obviously. Canada obliges.

La vidéo ? Des ambiances de hockey sur glace. Évidemment. Le Canada oblige.

Although… let’s be honest, not everyone in the band looks born on skates. And that kinda makes it better.

Bien que… soyons honnêtes, tout le monde dans le groupe n’a pas l’air né sur des patins. Et ça rend le tout un peu meilleur.

Brass Camel have been grinding hard since Brass (2022). 150+ shows, tours, festivals, big rooms, small sweaty ones too. They don’t fit neat boxes: funk, prog flashes, harmony-heavy art rock, all tangled up. Even their Sabrina Carpenter cover went viral, which is still kinda funny, but hey, it worked.

Brass Camel carbure fort depuis Brass (2022). Plus de 150 concerts, tournées, festivals, grandes salles, petites moites aussi. Ils ne rentrent pas dans des cases nettes : funk, éclats de prog, art rock riche en harmonie, le tout emmêlé. Même leur reprise de Sabrina Carpenter est devenue virale, ce qui est encore un peu drôle, mais bon, ça a marché.

This third album, tracked at Chalet Studio and mixed by Terry Brown, lands spring 2026. From what “Ice Cold” suggests? It’s gonna hit cleaner, sharper, and more confident. Less showing-off. More punch.

Ce troisième album, enregistré au Chalet Studio et mixé par Terry Brown, sortira au printemps 2026. À en juger par ce que suggère "Ice Cold" ? Ça va frapper plus net, plus tranchant, et plus confiant. Moins d’étalage. Plus de puissance.
