Executionist just dropped Sacrament of the Sick and yeah… it hits harder than expected.

I’m tired, volume too loud, still, this thing woke me up. Fast.

Je suis fatigué, volume trop fort, pourtant, cette chose m’a réveillé. Vite.

Thrash at full throttle, but not dumb-thrash. Razor riffs slicing left and right, drums hammering like they mean it, and then, boom, melody sneaks in. Iron Maiden ghosts, a bit of Kreator bite, even some Bodom-ish sharpness flashing through. Not copying. Channeling. Big difference.

Du thrash à fond, mais pas du thrash stupide. Des riffs tranchants comme des rasoirs qui tailladent à gauche et à droite, des batteries qui martèlent comme si elles le pensaient vraiment, et puis, boum, la mélodie s’infiltre. Des fantômes d’Iron Maiden, un peu de morsure de Kreator, même un peu de cette acuité à la Bodom qui jaillit. Pas de copie. De l’appropriation. Grande différence.

Charleston, West Virginia. Underground roots. You can hear the grind, the sweat, the rehearsal room walls shaking. This isn’t polite metal. It’s tight, hungry, slightly pissed off. Songs rush forward, then slow down just enough to crush you properly. That balance? Hard to get right. They do.

Charleston, Virginie-Occidentale. Racines underground. On entend le labeur, la sueur, les murs de la salle de répétition qui tremblent. Ce n’est pas du métal poli. C’est serré, affamé, un peu énervé. Les chansons foncent, puis ralentissent juste assez pour vous écraser correctement. Cet équilibre ? Difficile à réussir. Ils y arrivent.

I caught myself nodding like halfway through. Rewound a track. Played it again. Yeah, that riff, that one. You know the feeling.

Je me suis surpris à hocher la tête à la moitié. Rembobiné un morceau. L’ai rejoué. Ouais, ce riff, celui-là. Vous connaissez le sentiment.

Sacrament of the Sick feels like a debut that already knows where it’s going. Confident but still raw, still sharp around the edges. I like that. Too many bands sand that stuff down. Executionist didn’t. Good call.

Sacrament of the Sick semble un premier album qui sait déjà où il va. Confiant mais encore brut, encore tranchant sur les bords. J’aime ça. Trop de groupes lissent tout ça. Executionist ne l’a pas fait. Bonne idée.
