When Folk Metal Goes Full Eclipse

Okay so I just blasted “Eclissi” by Aexylium and yeah… the walls shook a bit. Or maybe that’s just my ears still ringing. Whatever. This track hits different. It’s the first time they go 100% Italian on vocals and you can feel it, like really feel it. The words flow more naturally, more raw. There’s something about hearing folk metal in its native tongue that just punches deeper. No filter. No safety net.

Ok j’ai balancé « Eclissi » d’Aexylium et ouais… les murs ont tremblé un peu. Ou c’est juste mes oreilles qui sifflent encore. Peu importe. Ce titre tape autrement. Première fois qu’ils passent 100% italien au chant et on le sent, vraiment. Les mots coulent plus naturel, plus brut. Y a un truc avec le folk metal dans sa langue maternelle qui cogne plus profond. Pas de filtre. Pas de filet de sécurité.

Musically it’s that classic Aexylium storm, modern metal crunch colliding with violins, flute lines swirling around the riffs, choirs rising up like some pagan ritual in slow motion. And then boom, the chorus opens wide and you’re in it. Arms up. Singing even if you don’t speak Italian (me, shouting nonsense syllables, no shame).

Musicalement c’est la tempête Aexylium classique : crunch metal moderne qui clash avec violons, lignes de flûte qui tourbillonnent autour des riffs, chœurs qui montent comme un rituel païen au ralenti. Et bam, le refrain s’ouvre en grand et t’es dedans. Bras en l’air. À chanter même si tu parles pas italien (moi, je hurle des syllabes n’importe quoi, sans honte).

The song sits on Myth of Mankind like a dark heartbeat. Big melodies, layered atmospheres, orchestral touches but not overdone. It breathes. It burns. And live? This is going to explode, I swear. You can already hear the crowd chanting back those lines. Damn. The album was shaped at Twilight Studio, with Davide Tavecchia behind the desk, and the artwork by Gustavo Sazes (yeah, the guy who worked with Arch Enemy and Machine Head). You see it, you hear it: it’s polished but still alive, not plastic.

Le morceau pulse comme un cœur noir sur Myth of Mankind. Grosses mélodies, atmosphères en couches, touches orchestrales mais pas too much. Ça respire. Ça brûle. Et live ? Ça va exploser, juré. On entend déjà la foule reprendre les lignes en chœur. Putain. L’album a été forgé à Twilight Studio par Davide Tavecchia, artwork par Gustavo Sazes (ouais, le mec d’Arch Enemy et Machine Head). Tu le vois, tu l’entends : poli mais vivant, pas plastifié.

If you’re into Eluveitie, Korpiklaani, Amorphis vibes but with that Mediterranean fire underneath, this one’s for you. No question.

Si t’aimes les vibes Eluveitie, Korpiklaani, Amorphis mais avec ce feu méditerranéen dessous, c’est pour toi. Sans hésiter.

Go spin it loud. Like, loud loud. And tell me that chorus doesn’t stick in your head for days… or maybe it’s just me losing it at 1AM.

Balance-le fort. Genre très fort. Et dis-moi que ce refrain te reste pas dans la tête des jours entiers… ou peut-être que c’est moi qui déraille à 1h du mat’.
