ELLIMIST just melted my night and I wasn’t ready, not really.

ELLIMIST vient de liquéfier ma nuit et je n’étais pas prêt, pas vraiment.

Progressive metal from the Northeast US, yeah, but that label barely holds. This is sci-fi soaked, galaxy-scale storytelling with riffs that refuse to sit still. One second it’s violent and technical, next it floats, clean, almost pretty. Then boom. Back to chaos.

Du métal progressif du nord-est des États-Unis, ouais, mais cette étiquette tient à peine. C’est une narration trempée dans la science-fiction, à l’échelle galactique, avec des riffs qui refusent de rester tranquilles. Une seconde c’est violent et technique, puis ça flotte, propre, presque joli. Puis boum. Retour au chaos.

They’re not just a band either. ELLIMIST is building a whole universe. Music, art, literature, the whole damn thing. Their second album Devastation of the Large Magellanic Cloud tells the same story as their debut novel Cyr the Destroyer, and you can hear it: this stuff feels written, imagined, obsessed over. Not just songs, but chapters.

Ce n’est pas non plus juste un groupe. ELLIMIST construit un univers entier. Musique, art, littérature, le truc complet. Leur deuxième album Devastation of the Large Magellanic Cloud raconte la même histoire que leur premier roman Cyr le Destructeur, et on l’entend : ce truc semble écrit, imaginé, obsédé. Pas juste des chansons, mais des chapitres.

The singles “The Beacon”, “Cyr the Destroyer”, “Lenit al Nialit” already showed the range: polyrhythms twisting around violent vocals, bass rumbling deep, then these ethereal melodic breaks that catch you off guard. For fans of Gojira, Devin Townsend, Opeth, Dream Theater… sure. But it doesn’t sound like a checklist. It sounds like risk.

Les singles "The Beacon", "Cyr the Destroyer", "Lenit al Nialit" ont déjà montré l’étendue : des polyrythmies qui s’emmêlent autour de voix violentes, des basses qui grondent profondément, puis ces brèves mélodiques éthérées qui vous prennent au dépourvu. Pour les fans de Gojira, Devin Townsend, Opeth, Dream Theater… sûr. Mais ça ne ressemble pas à une liste de vérification. Ça ressemble à un risque.

They play with everyone too. Hip-hop shows, funk gigs, hardcore nights. No walls. No rules. That’s kinda the point. One story, many voices.

Ils jouent aussi avec tout le monde. Spectacles de hip-hop, concerts de funk, nuits hardcore. Pas de murs. Pas de règles. C’est un peu le but. Une histoire, de nombreuses voix.

They started inspired by The Ellimist Chronicles (yeah, KA Applegate), now they’re building their own universe. Ambitious as hell. Maybe a bit insane. I respect that.

Ils ont commencé inspirés par Les Chroniques d’Ellimist (ouais, KA Applegate), maintenant ils construisent leur propre univers. Ambitieux comme pas permis. Peut-être un peu fou. J’apprécie ça.

This won’t click for everyone. Too big, too weird, too much.

Ça ne plaira pas à tout le monde. Trop grand, trop bizarre, trop.

Me? I like my metal like my sci-fi. Bold. Messy. Reaching.

Moi ? J’aime mon métal comme ma science-fiction. Audacieux. Brouillon. Ambitieux.
