Upcoming Release: Gus Drax
SHRED, THINK, BLEED A LITTLE
Gus Drax just dropped back into my headphones and yeah… this guy doesn’t just play guitar, he argues with it, pushes it, sometimes fights it. Born in Larissa, raised in Thessaloniki, Greek blood, metal heart, brain on fire.
From Biomechanical to Sunburst, from Black Fate to a full decade ripping leads for Suicidal Angels, Gus has been everywhere heavy music actually matters. Fast as hell, sure, but never empty. There’s melody in there, tension, thought. Classical ghosts mixed with pure metal sweat. (ok that right hand is just stupidly precise)
Now he’s back solo with “Theories of Imperfection”, out April 3rd 2026, and this feels like his most personal trip yet. Instrumental prog metal, but not the cold, clinical kind. This thing breathes. Tracks twist, slow down, explode again. Shred moments, yeah, but always serving something bigger. A feeling. A question. Maybe frustration. Maybe clarity. Hard to tell when the riffs keep talking over my thoughts.
The new video “Sentio Ergo Sum” says it all: speed meets reflection, aggression meets control. Not background music. You gotta sit with it. Or headbang through it. Or both. I did both. Twice.
CD, vinyl, digital… pick your weapon.
If you’re into guitar that means something, not just flexing muscles, this one’s for you.
Go watch it. Loud.
Then tell me what you felt, not what you “heard”.
