Chichester's Got Something to Say and it Sounds Like Heartbreak at 90 MPH

Late night. Headlights cutting through fog. That moment when you realize you're driving past their street again and you don't even know why anymore. That's "Hunter's Moon." That's Viva Los Villains. UK trio, formed 2024, Chichester: Tom Marfleet and Johnny Ordidge writing the songs, Aaron Bailey filling in everything else. Alt rock with indie bones and this weird folk-rock warmth underneath that shouldn't work but absolutely does. Distorted guitars, exposed vocals, rhythms that just push forward without ever letting you breathe too easy.
Tard le soir. Les phares coupent le brouillard. Ce moment où tu réalises que tu repasses encore dans leur rue et tu sais même plus pourquoi. C'est « Hunter's Moon ». C'est Viva Los Villains. Trio britannique formé en 2024 à Chichester : Tom Marfleet et Johnny Ordidge à l'écriture, Aaron Bailey qui complète le tout. Du rock alternatif avec une ossature indie et cette étrange chaleur folk-rock en dessous qui ne devrait pas marcher, mais qui fonctionne totalement. Guitares saturées, chant à vif, des rythmes qui poussent vers l'avant sans jamais te laisser respirer trop facilement.
"Don't call me baby / One time it was love..." The repetition in the chorus feels hypnotic honestly, like you're stuck in that emotional loop of going back to someone you know is done but your brain hasn't caught up yet. "Living rent free", that line hits different, grounds the whole Hunter's Moon imagery in something immediate and real instead of just poetic. « Don't call me baby / One time it was love... » La répétition dans le refrain est franchement hypnotique, comme si tu étais coincé dans cette boucle émotionnelle de retourner vers quelqu'un alors que tu sais que c'est fini, mais ton cerveau n'a pas encore capté. « Living rent free », cette ligne frappe différemment, elle ancre toute l'imagerie de Hunter's Moon dans quelque chose d'immédiat et de réel, au-delà de la simple poésie. 
You hear The White Stripes in the garage minimalism. Of Monsters and Men in the indie-folk energy. Beatles and Stones in the melodic instincts. But it never sounds like they're copying anything it just sounds like... them. Raw but reflective. Vulnerable but not weak. Only been around since 2024 and they're already building something that feels authentic in a scene that's drowning in derivatives. Maybe the real question isn't whether it's good. It's whether you're ready to feel something again.
On entend du White Stripes dans le minimalisme garage. Of Monsters and Men dans l'énergie indie-folk. Les Beatles et les Stones dans les instincts mélodiques. Mais ça ne sonne jamais comme une copie, ça sonne juste comme... eux. Brut mais réfléchi. Vulnérable mais pas faible. Là seulement depuis 2024 et ils construisent déjà quelque chose d'authentique dans une scène qui se noie dans le dérivé. La vraie question n'est peut-être pas de savoir si c'est bon. C'est de savoir si tu es prêt à ressentir quelque chose à nouveau.
