I've been sitting here for the last twenty minutes with my headphones on, ignoring my phone, just trying to figure out where the hell these guys came from. I stumbled onto Bloodstained Halo right around 1:30 PM today, and I'll be honest, at first, when I saw the "modern metalcore" tag, I almost scrolled past. We've all heard that story a thousand times before. But then I hit play on their debut EP, and everything changed.

Je suis tombé sur Bloodstained Halo vers 13h30 aujourd'hui, et honnêtement, au début, quand j'ai vu l'étiquette « metalcore moderne », j'ai failli passer mon tour. On a tous entendu cette histoire des milliers de fois. Mais j'ai lancé leur premier EP, et tout a changé.

They're from Lahti, Finland, and apparently, they formed on a music forum less than a year ago. Usually, that leads to a project that sounds a bit disjointed, but there's a weirdly tight chemistry between Lumi Eade and Toni Tiainen. It's not just "energy" ; it's more like they've spent way too much time in a dark room obsessing over how to make a riff actually hurt.

Ils viennent de Lahti, en Finlande, et apparemment, ils se sont formés sur un forum de musique il y a moins d'un an. D'habitude, ça donne un projet qui sonne un peu décousu, mais il y a une alchimie étrangement solide entre Lumi Eade et Toni Tiainen. Ce n'est pas juste de « l'énergie » ; c'est plutôt comme s'ils avaient passé beaucoup trop de temps dans une pièce sombre à obséder sur la façon de faire mal avec un riff.

When the first track kicked in, my brain immediately went to early Linkin Park, but then the song shifted. Suddenly, it had this sharp, technical precision that reminds me more of Architects or Sylosis. It caught me off guard, honestly. I actually had to rewind the second track because the transition between that melodic hook and the raw death metal growl was so seamless I thought I'd missed something.

Quand le premier morceau a démarré, mon cerveau est allé direct vers le premier Linkin Park, mais là le morceau a changé. Soudain, il avait cette précision technique aiguisée qui me rappelle plutôt Architects ou Sylosis. Ça m'a pris au dépourvu, honnêtement. J'ai dû revenir en arrière sur le deuxième morceau parce que la transition entre ce hook mélodique et le growl death metal brut était si fluide que j'ai cru avoir raté quelque chose.

I do have one small gripe: there are moments where the production feels almost too clean for my taste, especially during the more hardcore-leaning sections where I wanted a bit more dirt under the fingernails. But then a chorus hits, and you realize these guys just know how to write a song that sticks. It's a strange mix: a bit of Nu Metal grit, some old-school Melodeath, and a lot of modern anxiety. J'ai un petit reproche : par moments, la production semble presque trop propre à mon goût, surtout dans les sections plus hardcore où j'aurais voulu un peu plus de crasse sous les ongles. Mais là un refrain arrive, et tu réalises que ces gars savent écrire des chansons qui restent. C'est un mélange étrange : un peu de grain Nu Metal, du Melodeath old-school, et beaucoup d'anxiété moderne.

I'm not going to tell you it's the greatest thing ever recorded, but for a debut that started on a message board in 2025, it's impressively mature. I'm definitely keeping an eye on them for the rest of the year. If they can keep this level of intensity without smoothing out all the edges, the Finnish scene has a serious problem on its hands.

Je ne vais pas te dire que c'est le meilleur truc jamais enregistré, mais pour des débuts qui ont commencé sur un forum en 2025, c'est impressionnant de maturité. Je vais clairement les garder à l'œil pour le reste de l'année. S'ils peuvent garder ce niveau d'intensité sans gommer toutes les aspérités, la scène finlandaise va avoir un sérieux problème.
