I've just spent the last half hour or so staring at the wall in the dark, and honestly, I think Desecresy just broke something in my brain. I've been digging into their ninth album, The Secret Of Death, which is coming out May 21st on Xtreem Music, and... well... it's not exactly "easy" listening. It's more like being buried alive in slow motion.

Je viens de passer une demi-heure à fixer le mur dans le noir, et honnêtement, je crois que Desecresy vient de me péter un câble. J'ai exploré leur neuvième album, The Secret Of Death, qui sort le 21 mai chez Xtreem Music, et… eh bien… ce n'est pas vraiment une écoute « facile ». C'est plutôt comme être enterré vivant au ralenti.

Tommi Grönqvist has been running this project solo for a while now, and you can really tell. There's this weird, singular obsession in the sound: it's just thick, hypnotic, and honestly a bit suffocating. The opening track, "Gorge Of The Dead," has these atavistic riffs that feel like they're being dragged through a graveyard. It's not about speed or showing off; it's just this monolithic weight that doesn't let up.

Tommi Grönqvist mène ce projet en solitaire depuis un moment, et ça s'entend. Il y a cette obsession étrange et singulière dans le son : c'est épais, hypnotique, et honnêtement un peu suffocant. Le morceau d'ouverture, « Gorge Of The Dead », a ces riffs ataviques qui semblent traînés dans un cimetière. Ce n'est pas une question de vitesse ou de démonstration ; c'est juste ce poids monolithique qui ne lâche jamais.

The bass is so sickeningly heavy it actually made my desk rattle in a way that felt a bit "off." It's got that eerie, haunted tomb atmosphere that reminds you why the underground scene in Finland is so legendary. It's Lovecraftian, it's grim, and it feels a lot more like a nightmare than a collection of songs.

La basse est d'une lourdeur écœurante, elle a fait vibrer mon bureau d'une façon qui semblait un peu « dérangée ». Il y a cette atmosphère de tombe hantée qui rappelle pourquoi l'underground finlandais est si légendaire. C'est lovecraftien, sinistre, et ça ressemble bien plus à un cauchemar qu'à une collection de chansons.

If you're into that raw, necromantic style that sounds like it was recorded six feet under, this is going to hit you hard. It's coming out on everything, vinyl, CD, even cassette, which feels right for something this archaic. Si vous aimez ce style brut et nécromantique qui semble enregistré à six pieds sous terre, ça va vous percuter de plein fouet. Ça sort sur tous les supports, vinyle, CD, même cassette, ce qui semble parfait pour quelque chose d'aussi archaïque.

I think I'm going to leave the lights on for a bit after that session; those "Rotting Ghouls" tracks aren't exactly great for the nerves this late in the evening.
