The atmospheric pressure on The Temple doesn't just build, it hits you like a hull breach at 400 meters. I actually found myself holding my breath during the transitions, waiting for the structural collapse. It's been nearly a decade since these guys last surfaced, but man, the wait was worth every second of oxygen deprivation.

Je me suis surpris à retenir mon souffle pendant les transitions, à attendre l'effondrement structural. Ça fait presque une décennie que ces gars n'avaient pas refait surface, mais putain, l'attente a valu chaque seconde de privation d'oxygène.

Russian death metal veterans Grond have returned from the lightless depths with a comeback album that is frankly staggering. Out April 30th via Xtreem Music, The Temple is a brilliant, twisted concept record. It weaves together H.P. Lovecraft's subaquatic horror with the real-life fate of U-boat commander Otto Weddigen. It's part naval warfare, part Atlantean nightmare, and 100% devastating.

Les vétérans russes du death metal Grond sont remontés des profondeurs sans lumière avec un album de retour franchement renversant. Disponible le 30 avril chez Xtreem Music, The Temple est un brilliant album concept tordu. Il tisse ensemble l'horreur subaquatique de H.P. Lovecraft et le destin réel du commandant de U-boat Otto Weddigen. C'est à la fois de la guerre navale, du cauchemar atlante, et 100% dévastateur.

The sound is thick, a rumbling, rusty war machine that shifts from incendiary blasts to a slow-motion, suffocating crawl. I was completely floored by the lead work on "Radiant Fury"; the guitars circle the main riffs like hungry sharks in dark water. It's rare to find a death metal band that can balance this kind of monstrous heaviness with a fear-filled atmosphere that feels genuinely claustrophobic.

Le son est épais, une machine de guerre rouillée et grondante qui passe de rafales incendiaires à une lente reptation suffocante. J'ai été complètement soufflé par le travail lead sur « Radiant Fury » ; les guitares tournent autour des riffs principaux comme des requins affamés dans l'eau noire. C'est rare de trouver un groupe de death metal qui équilibre cette lourdeur monstrueuse avec une atmosphère de peur vraiment claustrophobique.

Actually... no, "atmosphere" isn't the right word. It's more like a physical descent. En fait… non, « atmosphère » n'est pas le bon mot. C'est plutôt une descente physique.

I think my neighbors are probably wondering why their floorboards sound like they're being crushed by an 18,000-ton Dreadnought. Whether it's the lurching, sanity-destroying riffs of the title track or the pitch-black isolation of "Dark Solitude Of The Sea," the songwriting is top-tier. It's the essence of pure death metal, distilled and infused with a terrifying subaquatic dread.

Je pense que mes voisins se demandent probablement pourquoi leurs planchers ont l'air d'être écrasés par un Dreadnought de 18 000 tonnes. Que ce soit les riffs titubants et destructeurs de raison du titre éponyme ou l'isolation d'un noir d'encre de « Dark Solitude Of The Sea », l'écriture est de premier ordre. C'est l'essence du death metal pur, distillée et infusée d'une terreur subaquatique terrifiante.

With majestic artwork by Daemorph and a production that feels like it was recorded inside a doomed submarine, this is easily a flagship release for 2026. No joke.
