I just caught myself staring at my phone for twenty minutes, scrolling through nothing, and then this track hit. It’s March 2nd, I’m a few days late to the party, but man... nothing kills a "digital coma" faster than a riff that actually has something to say.

Je viens de me surprendre à fixer mon téléphone pendant vingt minutes, à scroller dans le vide, et puis ce morceau a frappé. On est le 2 mars, je suis en retard de quelques jours, mais putain… rien ne tue un « coma numérique » plus vite qu’un riff qui a vraiment quelque chose à dire.

I just hit play on this new single from Las Vegas’ own Richie Cross and it’s like a bucket of ice water to the face. You know that feeling when you realize you’ve been on autopilot all day and can't remember a single thing you’ve done? That’s the "media fog" Richie is tearing through here. It’s alt-punk with a serious edge: think driving guitars that actually have something to say.

Je viens de lancer ce nouveau single du Las Vegassien Richie Cross et c’est comme un seau d’eau glacée en pleine figure. Tu connais ce sentiment quand tu réalises que t’as été en pilotage automatique toute la journée sans te souvenir d’un seul truc que t’as fait ? C’est ce « brouillard médiatique » que Richie déchire ici. De l’alt-punk avec un vrai tranchant : des guitares motrices qui ont quelque chose à dire.

The chorus is a total earworm, but it’s the bite in the lyrics that got me. "If it’s on TV, I believe", it's a simple line, but it's heavy. It feels urgent. It’s loud, it’s melodic, but it doesn't feel "produced" to death. Actually, scratch that: it feels alive. There’s a raw, human vibration in the way the rhythms pound that reminds me why I fell in love with this scene in the first place. It’s got that rebellion of the early 2000s but feels very much like a warning for right now. Le refrain est un vrai earworm, mais c’est la morsure des paroles qui m’a eu. « If it’s on TV, I believe », une phrase simple, mais lourde. Ça sonne urgent. C’est fort, mélodique, mais sans surproduction. En fait, non : ça vit. Il y a une vibration humaine brute dans la façon dont les rythmes cognent, qui me rappelle pourquoi je suis tombé amoureux de ce milieu. Ça a cette rébellion des années 2000 mais c’est un avertissement pour maintenant.

Richie’s been on a hell of a run lately, rebuilding his momentum since 2024. If this is a taste of what’s coming on his album Bridging The Gap this August, we’re in for a wild ride. It’s dense, it’s fast, and it’s definitely not for those who want to "lay down with the rest."

Richie est sur une sacrée lancée ces derniers temps, il reconstruit son élan depuis 2024. Si c’est un avant‑goût de ce qui nous attend sur son album Bridging The Gap en août, on va faire un sacré voyage. C’est dense, rapide, et ce n’est clairement pas pour ceux qui veulent « se coucher avec les autres ».

Anyway, I’m getting fired up and my coffee is actually still hot for once. Stop living on autopilot for four minutes and give this a spin. Or don't, but you're missing out.

Bref, je m’emballe et mon café est encore chaud pour une fois. Arrête de vivre en pilotage automatique pendant quatre minutes et écoute ça. Ou pas, mais tu rates quelque chose.
