I was just looking at the calendar and realized it's been a long wait for new material from these guys. Then I hit play on Kade. Honestly, I had to double-check if I was still listening to the same band. We all know the classic Finnish industrial sound they pioneered, but this time, Ruoska has decided to tear up their own map.

Je regardais le calendrier et j'ai réalisé que ça faisait longtemps qu'on attendait du nouveau de ces gars. Puis j'ai lancé Kade. Honnêtement, j'ai dû vérifier si j'écoutais toujours le même groupe. On connaît tous le son industriel finlandais classique qu'ils ont pionné, mais cette fois, Ruoska a décidé de déchirer sa propre carte.

RUOSKA - Kade
Released on February 27th via Inverse Records, Kade is more than just another industrial metal album. It's the sound of a band finally reaching the level they've been chasing for years. While the foundation is still heavy, there's a progressive edge here that feels entirely new. I actually found myself leaning in during some of the orchestral arrangements, courtesy of Krzysztof Dobosiewicz, which give the tracks a majestic, almost cinematic weight.

Sorti le 27 février chez Inverse Records, Kade est plus qu'un simple album de metal industriel. C'est le son d'un groupe qui atteint enfin le niveau qu'il poursuit depuis des années. Si les fondations sont toujours lourdes, il y a ici un côté progressif qui semble entièrement nouveau. Je me suis surpris à me pencher pendant certains arrangements orchestraux, grâce à Krzysztof Dobosiewicz, qui donnent aux morceaux un poids majestueux, presque cinématographique.

The core of the sound is still unmistakably Ruoska, largely thanks to Patrik Mennander's vocals. But even there, something has shifted. Patrik is using his range in ways we haven't heard before, moving from those gritty interpretations to much more versatile performances. It's clear that working in the studio from the demo stage to the final polish allowed them to experiment. Actually... "experiment" might be an understatement. When you hear Patrik and producer Janne Saksa were joking about whether a track should sound like Scooter or David Guetta, you know they were having a blast breaking the rules.

Le cœur du son est toujours indéniablement Ruoska, grâce surtout au chant de Patrik Mennander. Mais même là, quelque chose a changé. Patrik utilise sa palette comme on ne l'a jamais entendu, passant de ces interprétations granuleuses à des performances bien plus polyvalentes. Il est clair que travailler en studio du stade de la démo au polissage final leur a permis d'expérimenter. En fait… « expérimenter » est peut-être un euphémisme. Quand on apprend que Patrik et le producteur Janne Saksa plaisantaient sur le fait qu'un morceau devrait sonner comme Scooter ou David Guetta, on comprend qu'ils se sont éclatés à casser les règles.

Songs like "Kettingit" and "Ohjenuora" showcase this new ambition perfectly. All the members bring different musical backgrounds to the table now, and you can feel that diversity in the songwriting. It's mechanical, it's heavy, but it's also strangely emotional and complex. I caught myself turning the volume up during the focus track "Piruja" just to catch the layers of the production. Des morceaux comme « Kettingit » et « Ohjenuora » illustrent parfaitement cette nouvelle ambition. Tous les membres apportent désormais des bagages musicaux différents, et on sent cette diversité dans l'écriture. C'est mécanique, lourd, mais aussi étrangement émotionnel et complexe. Je me suis surpris à monter le volume pendant le morceau phare « Piruja » juste pour capter les couches de la production.

If you thought you knew what to expect from Finnish Industrial Metal in 2026, Kade is here to prove you wrong. It's ambitious, slightly progressive, and dangerously heavy. Ruoska isn't just back; they've evolved into something much more formidable.

Si tu pensais savoir à quoi t'attendre du metal industriel finlandais en 2026, Kade est là pour te prouver le contraire. C'est ambitieux, légèrement progressif, et dangereusement lourd. Ruoska n'est pas juste de retour ; ils ont évolué en quelque chose de bien plus redoutable.
