I've been trying to find the right words for this one all morning, but honestly, you just have to feel it. While the rest of the world is chasing the next "buzz" trend, I've been spiraling into the deep, soulful grooves of Zita. Their new album Axiom is released on March 13th.

J'ai cherché les mots justes pour celui‑ci tout le matin, mais honnêtement, il faut le ressentir. Pendant que le monde court après la prochaine tendance « buzz », je me suis perdu dans les grooves profonds et pleins d'âme de Zita. Leur nouvel album Axiom est sorti le 13 mars.

ZITA - Axiom
Coming out of New Orleans, these guys have moved past trying to "imitate" classic rock. Instead, they've let the city's actual DNA, the funk, the soul, the R&B... bleed into their sound. They've tapped local legends like Nigel Hall and Mark Mullins for this record, and you can hear that respect in every note. It's polished, yet it feels completely alive.

Originaires de La Nouvelle‑Orléans, ces gars ont dépassé le stade de « l'imitation » du rock classique. Ils ont laissé l'ADN même de la ville, le funk, la soul, le R&B… imprégner leur son. Ils ont fait appel à des légendes locales comme Nigel Hall et Mark Mullins sur cet album, et on entend ce respect dans chaque note. C'est ciselé, mais ça reste complètement vivant.

The title Axiom comes from the Greek word for "self-evident truth," which is fitting because the music just is. There's even a track sung in Greek by frontman Michael Mullins. I actually had to stop what I was doing and just lean back in my chair when that groove hit. It's rare to find a band that can blend Allman Brothers-style grit with the slickness of Tower of Power without sounding like a tribute act.

Le titre Axiom vient du grec « vérité évidente », ce qui est approprié car la musique est simplement elle‑même. Il y a même un morceau chanté en grec par le chanteur Michael Mullins. J'ai dû m'arrêter et me caler dans mon fauteuil quand ce groove a frappé. C'est rare de trouver un groupe qui mêle la rugosité des Allman Brothers au polish de Tower of Power sans sonner comme un tribute band.

I was spinning "Axiom" earlier, and I swear, I thought I'd caught the vibe... but then the brass section kicked in and... yeah. That's where it gets special. It's dense, it's warm, and it feels like a humid night at Tipitina's. Actually, "warm" isn't the right word. It's glowing. J'écoutais « Axiom » tout à l'heure, et je jure que je croyais avoir saisi l'ambiance… mais quand la section de cuivres a démarré… voilà. C'est là que ça devient spécial. C'est dense, chaud, et on se croirait dans une nuit humide au Tipitina's. En fait, « chaud » n'est pas le bon mot. C'est incandescent.

I'll be honest, my coffee went stone cold while I was digging through the credits on this thing. I didn't expect to be this hooked on a record that leans so heavily into the funk scene, but Zita makes it impossible to look away. It's an evolution, a snapshot of a band finally finding their own "truth."

Pour être honnête, mon café est devenu glacé pendant que je fouillais les crédits. Je ne m'attendais pas à être autant accro à un disque qui penche autant vers le funk, mais Zita rend impossible de détourner le regard. C'est une évolution, un instantané d'un groupe qui trouve enfin sa propre « vérité ».
