Forget the idea that Thrash has peaked or gone stale. Costa Rica's Höwler is about to prove that the genre still has plenty of teeth left. On May 8, 2026, they're dropping their fifth full-length album, "Beyond Mortal Control," via CDN Records, and it sounds like they've spent their time sharpening their axes.

Since 2009, these guys have been building a massive reputation across Latin America, sharing stages with the likes of Destruction and D.R.I.. But this time, the dynamic has shifted. Now operating as a lean, focused three-piece unit, Höwler has stripped away the excess to create something darker and significantly more ferocious. There's no place to hide in a trio; every riff has to carry its own weight, and you can really hear that concentrated aggression in the new material.
Depuis 2009, ces gars bâtissent une réputation massive en Amérique latine, partageant la scène avec Destruction et D.R.I. Mais cette fois, la dynamique a changé. Fonctionnant désormais en trio épuré et concentré, Höwler a éliminé le superflu pour créer quelque chose de plus sombre et nettement plus féroce. Il n'y a pas d'endroit où se cacher dans un trio ; chaque riff doit faire son poids, et on entend vraiment cette agression concentrée dans le nouveau matériel.
The upcoming record, available worldwide on both CD and vinyl, is a technically refined assault that hits with absolute purpose. The visual side is just as punishing, featuring striking cover art by the acclaimed Andrei Bouzikov and a sharp new visual identity designed by MR WOLF. This isn't just "old school" worship; it's a darker, tighter chapter for a band that continues to push Central American metal forward.
Le prochain album, disponible mondialement en CD et vinyle, est un assaut techniquement raffiné qui frappe avec une détermination absolue. Le côté visuel est tout aussi punitif, avec une pochette saisissante du célèbre Andrei Bouzikov et une nouvelle identité visuelle acérée conçue par MR WOLF. What really stands out to me about this new era is that "three-piece" energy. It forces a band to be more surgical, and you can hear that Höwler has found a new, meaner North. The Bouzikov artwork is the perfect shell for this kind of sound: grim, detailed, and relentless. If you want Thrash that actually cuts deep instead of just glancing off the surface, May 8th is the date to watch. \m/
Ce qui me frappe vraiment dans cette nouvelle ère, c'est cette énergie de « trio ». Ça oblige le groupe à être plus chirurgical, et on entend que Höwler a trouvé un nouveau cap, plus méchant. La pochette de Bouzikov est l'écrin parfait pour ce genre de son : sinistre, détaillé et implacable.
