Let's be real: Metalite aren't the band you go to for the smell of stale beer and sweat in a damp basement. They're the band that drops you straight into a cyberpunk nightclub in 2080. With "Starchild," they aren't trying to reinvent the wheel ; they're just making it glow under neon lights.
Soyons honnêtes : Metalite n'est pas le groupe qu'on écoute pour sentir la bière rance et la sueur d'un sous‑sol humide. C'est le groupe qui vous plonge directement dans une boîte de nuit cyberpunk en 2080. Avec « Starchild », ils n'essaient pas de réinventer la roue ; ils la font juste briller sous les lumières néon.

This is the first taste of their upcoming album Discovery (out this autumn), and it does exactly what it says on the tin: it's hyper-polished, it hits where it needs to, and it'll get stuck in your head like gum on your shoe. Edwin Premberg promised a heavier sound, and you can definitely hear the guitars grinding harder underneath the synth layers. But let's not kid ourselves: the chorus is the main event. It's built for shouting along, Erica Ohlsson's vocals slice through the mix with scary precision, and the whole thing was mastered by Jacob Hansen with a finish so clean you could eat off it.
C'est le premier aperçu de leur prochain album Discovery (prévu cet automne), et il fait exactement ce qui est annoncé : c'est hyper‑poli, ça frappe là où il faut, et ça vous reste dans la tête comme un chewing‑gum sous la semelle. Edwin Premberg avait promis un son plus lourd, et on entend effectivement les guitares gratter plus fort sous les nappes de synthé. Mais ne nous leurrons pas : le refrain est la pièce maîtresse. Il est fait pour être hurlé en chœur, la voix d'Erica Ohlsson traverse le mix avec une précision effrayante, et l'ensemble a été masterisé par Jacob Hansen avec une finition si propre qu'on pourrait manger dessus.
Is it "plastic" and overproduced? Sure. But that's their brand, and they do it better than just about anyone else on the scene right now. This isn't a record for the purists chasing "organic, artisan rock." This is a machine built for live stages and massive sound systems. C'est « plastique » et surproduit ? Oui. Mais c'est leur marque de fabrique, et ils le font mieux que presque tout le monde sur la scène actuelle. Ce n'est pas un disque pour les puristes en quête de « rock organique et artisanal ». C'est une machine conçue pour les scènes et les grosses sonos.
If you want rootsy, keep walking. If you want a modern, razor-sharp anthem, crank it up.
