Finland is famous for its clean air and happy people, but Negaatio is here to remind us that there's a whole lot of darkness lurking in those Tampere rehearsal rooms. Their debut album, Mieleni Murtama, is dropping April 10th via Inverse Records, and it's a massive slab of groove metal that doesn't just tap on the door, it kicks the hinges off.

La Finlande est célèbre pour son air pur et ses habitants heureux, mais Negaatio est là pour nous rappeler qu'il y a beaucoup d'obscurité qui rôde dans ces salles de répétition de Tampere. Leur premier album, Mieleni Murtama, sort le 10 avril via Inverse Records, et c'est une énorme dalle de groove metal qui ne frappe pas à la porte : elle défonce les gonds.

If you're into the high-energy, technical crunch of bands like Stam1na or Mokoma, you're going to dig this. These guys only formed at the end of 2022, but they've already clawed their way to a bronze finish at the Emergenza 2025 finals. You can hear why; there's a "sense of danger" in the way Jani Myllylä handles the vocals that you just can't fake. It sounds like a man losing his grip on reality in real-time.

Si vous aimez le crunch technique et énergique de groupes comme Stam1na ou Mokoma, vous allez adorer. Ces gars se sont formés fin 2022, mais ils ont déjà réussi à décrocher la médaille de bronze aux finales d'Emergenza 2025. On comprend pourquoi : il y a un « sens du danger » dans la façon dont Jani Myllylä manie le chant, qu'on ne peut pas inventer. Ça sonne comme un homme qui perd pied avec la réalité en temps réel.

The production, handled by Eero Jaakkola and Pauli Mänty, is thick as hell. On tracks like "Valehtelija" or "Inertia," the guitars have this disgusting, heavy grit that makes you want to squint your eyes and just lean into the noise. It deals with some pretty repulsive, hopeless themes, but they confront the horror head-on rather than hiding behind metaphors. It's raw, it's aggressive, and it's got that "iron-like" precision that makes Finnish metal so consistently good.

La production, assurée par Eero Jaakkola et Pauli Mänty, est épaisse à mort. Sur des morceaux comme « Valehtelija » ou « Inertia », les guitares ont ce grain dégueulasse et lourd qui donne envie de plisser les yeux et de se laisser aller dans le bruit. Ça parle de thèmes assez répugnants et désespérés, mais ils affrontent l'horreur de front plutôt que de se cacher derrière des métaphores. C'est brut, agressif, et ça a cette précision « de fer » qui rend le metal finlandais toujours aussi bon.

I've been spinning "Leukaperä" all morning, and the rhythmic shift halfway through is enough to give you whiplash. This isn't just background music; it's a full-on sonic assault. J'ai écouté « Leukaperä » toute la matinée, et le changement rythmique à mi‑parcours suffit à vous donner un coup du lapin. Ce n'est pas juste de la musique d'ambiance ; c'est un assaut sonore à part entière.

I actually had to pause after "Kun Muisto Saastuttaa" to grab a glass of water. The sheer intensity of the drumming on that track is exhausting to even listen to, let alone play. If they bring half that energy to their live shows, the front row is in serious trouble. \m/

J'ai dû m'arrêter après « Kun Muisto Saastuttaa » pour aller chercher un verre d'eau. La simple intensité de la batterie sur ce morceau est épuisante à écouter, sans même parler de la jouer. S'ils amènent ne serait‑ce que la moitié de cette énergie sur scène, le premier rang va avoir de sérieux problèmes. \m/
