Honestly, if you thought Okkultist had already peaked with O.M.E.N., "Teeth of the Hydra" is going to slap that idea right out of your head. It's not just a new single; it's a total gut-punch. The Portuguese crew is back via Alma Mater Records, and they didn't mess around: they brought in Fernando Ribeiro from Moonspell to lend his voice to the chaos.

Franchement, si vous pensiez qu'Okkultist avait déjà atteint son sommet avec O.M.E.N., « Teeth of the Hydra » va vous faire sortir cette idée de la tête. Ce n'est pas juste un nouveau single ; c'est un coup de poing dans le ventre. The track is heavy as hell... suffocating, almost greasy. Beatriz Mariano sounds as possessed as ever, but when Ribeiro drops in, the whole thing takes on this creepy, occult preaching vibe right in the middle of the carnage. I checked out the video (directed by Beatriz herself, by the way, talk about talent) and my ears are still ringing. The riffs are sharp, for sure, but it's that ritualistic atmosphere that really grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go.

Le morceau est lourd comme l'enfer… suffocant, presque gras. Beatriz Mariano semble aussi possédée que jamais, mais quand Ribeiro entre, l'ensemble prend cette vibe étrange de prêche occulte en pleine carnage. J'ai regardé le clip (réalisé par Beatriz elle‑même, rien que ça, parlons de talent) et j'ai encore les oreilles qui sifflent. Les riffs sont tranchants, certes, mais c'est cette atmosphère rituelle qui vous attrape à la gorge et ne lâche plus.

Production-wise, it's rock solid. It went through Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street, so you know it's massive without sounding like some polished-for-radio garbage. The band calls this "the first incision," and if that's true, we're all going to be in pieces by the time the full album drops. They aren't trying to play nice anymore; they're just carving their own path through the blood and sweat.

Côté production, c'est du solide. Ça a transité par Tony Lindgren au Fascination Street, donc vous savez que c'est massif sans sonner comme une daube polie pour la radio. Le groupe appelle ça « la première incision », et si c'est vrai, on sera tous en pièces quand l'album complet sortira. Ils n'essaient plus de faire les gentils ; ils se frayent juste un chemin dans le sang et la sueur.

I just spun this for the fifth time just for that section in the middle where the rhythm section goes completely off the rails. My neck is already killing me and the album isn't even here yet. It's going to be a total massacre. \m/
