Don't let the name fool you: Santiago Kings aren't hailing from Chile, and you won't find any Spanish lyrics here. These guys are actually grinding it out in the steel city of Sheffield, UK. They might share a hometown with Def Leppard, but that's where the similarities end. Since 2012, this quintet has been brewing a gritty, unique concoction of Blues, Folk, and Alternative Rock that hits much harder than your average indie act.

Ne vous fiez pas au nom : Santiago Kings ne vient pas du Chili et vous ne trouverez pas de paroles espagnoles ici. Ces gars-là écument en fait la ville de l'acier, Sheffield, au Royaume‑Uni. Ils partagent peut‑être leur ville natale avec Def Leppard, mais c'est là que s'arrêtent les similitudes. Depuis 2012, ce quintette brasse un mélange rugueux et unique de Blues, Folk et Rock alternatif qui frappe bien plus fort que la moyenne des groupes indie.

After a couple of years of silence following their 2022 album, they're back with "Pro Patria Mori." The title translates to "It is sweet and fitting to die for one's country," and it marks their first real statement of intent in this new chapter. It's got that classic Sheffield musical heritage baked into its DNA, but they've polished it with a modern, electrifying edge that feels both familiar and dangerously fresh.

Après quelques années de silence suite à leur album de 2022, ils reviennent avec « Pro Patria Mori ». Le titre se traduit par « Il est doux et beau de mourir pour sa patrie », et c'est leur première véritable déclaration d'intention dans ce nouveau chapitre. Il a cet héritage musical classique de Sheffield gravé dans son ADN, mais ils l'ont poli avec une touche moderne et électrisante qui semble à la fois familière et dangereusement fraîche.

What I love about these guys is the dynamic. They aren't afraid to let the bluesy roots show through the alternative crunch. With four EPs and two full-lengths already under their belt, they sound like a band that knows exactly who they are and isn't looking for anyone's permission to switch gears.

Ce que j'aime chez ces gars, c'est leur dynamique. Ils n'ont pas peur de laisser transparaître leurs racines bluesy sous le crunch alternatif. Avec quatre EP et deux albums déjà à leur actif, ils sonnent comme un groupe qui sait exactement qui il est et qui n'a besoin de la permission de personne pour changer de vitesse.

If you need a shot of pure energy to kickstart your day, this is the one. It's loud, it's honest, and it's damn good rock and roll. Si vous avez besoin d'une dose d'énergie pure pour démarrer votre journée, c'est celle‑là. C'est fort, honnête, et c'est putain de bon rock and roll.

I've been sitting with this track, and there's a certain weight to the production that just sticks to you. It's got that gray, rainy UK vibe but with enough fire in the belly to keep things burning. Sheffield definitely hasn't lost its touch for producing bands with real backbone. \m/

Je suis resté sur ce morceau, et il y a un certain poids dans la production qui vous colle à la peau. Il y a cette ambiance grise et pluvieuse du Royaume‑Uni, mais assez de feu dans le ventre pour que ça continue de brûler. Sheffield n'a décidément pas perdu son talent pour produire des groupes avec une vraie colonne vertébrale. \m/
