SARDINIAN PROG/POWER METAL ENTERS A NEW, MYSTERIOUS ERA

Sardinia's Souls of Diotima are definitely playing with our nerves. The band just pulled back the curtain on their fifth album, "Arcade" (set for an October 2nd release via Diotima Records), promising a "new era" that they've kept strictly under wraps. We'll finally get a taste of what they've been hiding on June 5th, when the first single "Run Away" drops.

Les Sardes de Souls of Diotima jouent définitivement avec nos nerfs. Le groupe vient de lever le voile sur son cinquième album, « Arcade » (prévu pour le 2 octobre via Diotima Records), promettant une « nouvelle ère » qu'ils ont tenue secrète. On aura enfin un aperçu de ce qu'ils cachent le 5 juin, avec la sortie du premier single « Run Away ».

The band headed to Sweden's legendary Studio Bohus to birth this mysterious shift. When you recruit a production heavy-hitter like Thomas "Plec" Johansson, you aren't looking to play it safe. While they've shared the 11-track list and some striking artwork by Rhett Padersoo, the music itself remains a total blackout. They've successfully built the hype by saying everything and nothing at the same time.

Le groupe s'est rendu au légendaire Studio Bohus en Suède pour donner naissance à ce virage mystérieux. Quand on recrute un ponte de la production comme Thomas « Plec » Johansson, on ne cherche pas à jouer la sécurité. Bien qu'ils aient dévoilé la liste des 11 titres et une pochette saisissante signée Rhett Padersoo, la musique reste totalement masquée. Ils ont réussi à créer le hype en disant tout et rien à la fois.

The secrecy is what's actually interesting here. Flying to Sweden to record usually means a band is looking for a massive sonic upgrade or a complete change in texture. Are we getting the symphonic/prog roots, or are they about to flip the table entirely? We'll find out on June 5th. Until then, the mystery is doing its job: I'm genuinely curious to hear what they brought back in their luggage from Sweden. \m/
