Forget the space-age polish you usually get with sci-fi albums; SCRAPER sounds like they recorded Infinite Journey in a rusted-out factory in the middle of a blackout. Hailing from Marl, these guys have that specific Ruhr-area grit that you can't fake: it's metal that feels heavy because it's dense, not because the production is loud.

Oubliez le polishing spatial qu'on trouve habituellement dans les albums de science‑fiction ; SCRAPER donne l'impression d'avoir enregistré Infinite Journey dans une usine rouillée en plein blackout. Originaires de Marl, ces gars ont ce grain spécifique de la Ruhr qu'on ne peut pas imiter : un metal qui semble lourd parce qu'il est dense, pas parce que la production est forte.

I'll be honest: most "concept albums" are a slog, but this one is a different beast. Instead of a soaring odyssey, it's a nervous, claustrophobic dive into the mess where human brains meet machine parts. It's twitchy. It's dark. It's exactly what you'd expect from a band that's spent a decade grinding it out with veterans like Exumer and Tankard.
Je serai honnête : la plupart des « albums concepts » sont pénibles, mais celui‑ci est une toute autre bête. Au lieu d'une odyssée planante, c'est une plongée nerveuse et claustrophobique dans le chaos où les cerveaux humains rencontrent les pièces de machines. C'est saccadé. C'est sombre. C'est exactement ce qu'on attend d'un groupe qui a passé une décennie à tourner avec des vétérans comme Exumer et Tankard.
The music itself is a bit of a wrecking ball. One minute you're dealing with a frantic thrash attack that feels like it's going to fly off the rails, and the next, they drop into these massive, mid-tempo grooves that just sit on your chest. It's technical enough to keep the prog-heads happy, but it's got enough dirt under its fingernails to satisfy the purists.
La musique elle‑même est une boule de démolition. Une minute, vous êtes pris dans une attaque thrash frénétique qui semble prête à dérailler, et la suivante, ils plongent dans ces grooves massifs à tempo moyen qui vous pèsent sur la poitrine. C'est assez technique pour satisfaire les amateurs de prog, mais avec assez de crasse sous les ongles pour contenter les puristes.
