Maria Sliviany apparently does everything in this band. She sings, writes the words, manages the artistic direction. It's basically the Maria show, and honestly, the rest of the band, Jack Vanderbrook on keyboards, Luan Lopes on guitars, plus the rhythm section, just feel like they're backing her up in the fog. They're from Curitiba, Brazil. They play symphonic metal. You already know exactly what this sounds like before you even hit play.

Maria Sliviany semble tout faire dans ce groupe. Elle chante, écrit les paroles, dirige la direction artistique. C'est essentiellement le show de Maria, et honnêtement, le reste du groupe, Jack Vanderbrook aux claviers, Luan Lopes aux guitares, plus la section rythmique, semble simplement la soutenir dans le brouillard. Ils viennent de Curitiba, au Brésil. Ils jouent du metal symphonique. Vous savez déjà exactement à quoi ça ressemble avant même d'appuyer sur play.

They got their video for "Beltane" onto the Roadie Crew Online Fest recently. Online festivals aren't really my thing, I need the beer and the muddy fields, but hey, exposure is exposure. The song itself is based on some ancient pagan festival. It's all very "occult love and hermetic principles," which usually makes me want to roll my eyes into the back of my skull. It wanders too far into the orchestral fluff. But Sliviany's voice actually saves it from being totally unlistenable. She has this massive range that actually cuts through the over-produced synth walls.

Ils ont eu leur vidéo pour « Beltane » sélectionnée au Roadie Crew Online Fest récemment. Les festivals en ligne, ce n'est pas vraiment mon truc, j'ai besoin de bière et de champs boueux, mais bon, l'exposition est l'exposition. Le morceau lui-même est basé sur une ancienne fête païenne. C'est très « amour occulte et principes hermétiques », ce qui me donne généralement envie de lever les yeux au ciel. Ça s'égare trop dans le flou orchestral. Mais la voix de Sliviany sauve le tout d'une écoute impossible. Elle a cette palette énorme qui parvient à traverser les murs de synthés surproduits.

Their debut album Principium dropped back in 2024 through Voice Music, and they're doing an anniversary gig at Teatro Paiol on June 27. There's another video out for a track called "Teufelsbuhlschaft", don't ask me to pronounce that. Look, if you worship Nightwish or Epica, you'll probably eat this up. It's a bit too theatrical and clean for my taste. The heavy parts don't bite hard enough because the mix is so busy trying to sound like a movie soundtrack. It's decent, but it needs less magic and a lot more dirt.

Leur premier album Principium est sorti en 2024 via Voice Music, et ils feront un concert anniversaire au Teatro Paiol le 27 juin. Il y a une autre vidéo pour un morceau intitulé « Teufelsbuhlschaft », ne me demandez pas de le prononcer. Écoutez, si vous vénérez Nightwish ou Epica, vous allez probablement adorer. C'est un peu trop théâtral et propre à mon goût. Les parties lourdes ne mordent pas assez parce que le mixage est tellement occupé à essayer de ressembler à une bande originale de film. C'est correct, mais il faudrait moins de magie et beaucoup plus de crasse.
