THAT ADRIAN BUSHBY PRODUCTION CHOICE
What really sticks out with this new 7 Weeks single, "Shape Me," is the name behind the boards. They got Adrian Bushby to produce and engineer it. The guy has a double Grammy for working with massive acts like Foo Fighters and Muse, so I was initially a bit skeptical about how that would translate to a self-funded independent band based out of Limoges.
Ce qui ressort vraiment avec ce nouveau single de 7 Weeks, « Shape Me », c'est le nom derrière les manettes. Ils ont fait appel à Adrian Bushby pour la production et l'ingénierie. Le type a deux Grammy pour son travail avec des mastodontes comme Foo Fighters et Muse, alors j'étais un peu sceptique au début sur la façon dont cela allait se transposer à un groupe indépendant auto‑financé basé à Limoges.
Maybe that's why I kept staring at the geography behind the project for a minute: Limoges, London, Birmingham. It's an odd journey to picture. Three guys from central France heading across the Channel to work with a producer of that calibre.
C'est peut-être pour ça que je suis resté à fixer la géographie derrière le projet un moment : Limoges, Londres, Birmingham. Un voyage étrange à imaginer. Trois gars du centre de la France qui traversent la Manche pour travailler avec un producteur de ce calibre.
But listening to the track, the choice makes sense. Instead of layering a million studio tricks, it feels like Bushby stripped away all the artifice. You can hear a very direct, transparent capture of a heavy rock power trio. At one point I found myself focusing almost entirely on the snare sound, not the whole mix, just that physical crack of the drum hitting the room. That's usually a good sign.
Mais en écoutant le morceau, le choix a du sens. Au lieu de superposer des millions d'astuces studio, on dirait que Bushby a enlevé tout l'artifice. On entend une prise très directe et transparente d'un power trio de heavy rock. À un moment, je me suis retrouvé à me concentrer presque entièrement sur le son de la caisse claire, pas sur le mix entier, juste ce craquement physique de la batterie dans la pièce. C'est généralement bon signe.
It's an interesting pivot before the full EP, Going Back Home, drops on September 18, 2026. The bio mentions they've played major stages like Hellfest Mainstage in 2024 and Motocultor, but this track doesn't sound like it was built for huge festival fields. It sounds closer than that. Three musicians locked into the same groove, playing hard in a room.
C'est un virage intéressant avant que l'EP complet, Going Back Home, ne sorte le 18 septembre 2026. Leur bio mentionne qu'ils ont joué sur de grandes scènes comme la Mainstage du Hellfest en 2024 et Motocultor, mais ce morceau n'a pas été construit pour les grands espaces de festival. Il sonne plus proche que ça. Trois musiciens calés sur le même groove, jouant fort dans une pièce.
I actually got a bit derailed thinking about how they fund everything through their own independent label while bringing in someone like Bushby. That's a serious commitment for a band operating outside the mainstream radar. Hearing how immediate and natural the instruments sound on "Shape Me," though, it feels like the gamble paid off.
J'ai un peu dévié en pensant à la façon dont ils financent tout via leur propre label indépendant tout en engageant quelqu'un comme Bushby. C'est un engagement sérieux pour un groupe qui évolue hors des radars mainstream. En entendant à quel point les instruments sonnent immédiats et naturels sur « Shape Me », on a l'impression que le pari a payé.
