KOMODO HAS A WEIRD ENERGY ON THIS NEW RECORD

Man, seeing Komodo pull off that Central American Wacken Open Air Metal Battle win and then landing the Sepultura farewell tour support slot must have done something to their writing process. You can feel that shift all over "Battle Pass". They are trying this odd strategy where every single song apparently got treated like its own independent thing, complete with its own video and visual style. It makes the tracklist feel less like a traditional album and more like a collection of individual statements.

Ils essaient cette stratégie étrange où chaque chanson a apparemment été traitée comme une entité indépendante, avec sa propre vidéo et son propre style visuel. Cela donne à la tracklist moins l'impression d'un album traditionnel que d'une collection de déclarations individuelles.

The Megadeth influence hits you first, that old-school thrash aggression, but then Hugo Andrade's vocals start pulling things into this Alice in Chains grunge territory. It is a strange mix when you look at tracks like "Perception of Things" or "Masochist" on the playlist. Juan Manuel Díaz on bass and Miguel Yau on drums keep the low end heavy enough, but Carlos Owens' lead guitars are constantly pushing it toward that complex, melodic Avenged Sevenfold style. It gets pretty contrasted.

Juan Manuel Díaz à la basse et Miguel Yau à la batterie maintiennent un grave suffisamment lourd, mais les guitares solo de Carlos Owens poussent constamment vers ce style complexe et mélodique à la Avenged Sevenfold. C'est assez contrasté.

They already have a release show lined up at the Hotel Sortis, One Club in Panama City on June 13. It is wild to think they are dropping this on M&O Office agency and immediately starting from scratch on a third album. The focus is definitely moving fast.

Ils ont déjà un concert de lancement prévu à l'Hotel Sortis, One Club à Panama City le 13 juin. C'est fou de penser qu'ils sortent ça chez M&O Office agency et qu'ils repartent immédiatement de zéro sur un troisième album. La cadence est définitivement rapide.
