WAIT, THIS IS THE GUY FROM DEIVOS?
I had to double-check the description twice to make sure YouTube hadn't glitched out and played the wrong band. When you see a lineup featuring dudes from Outre, Ulcer, and Deivos, you brace yourself for an absolute beating. You expect your ears to bleed. But Only Sons don't do that. At all.
J'ai dû vérifier deux fois la description pour m'assurer que YouTube n'avait pas bugué et joué le mauvais groupe. Quand on voit une formation avec des membres d'Outre, Ulcer et Deivos, on se prépare à une sacrée dérouillée. On s'attend à ce que ses oreilles saignent. Mais Only Sons ne fait pas ça. Pas du tout.
Instead, they just put out this live video for "Shallows" and it's pure, heavy progressive rock. Think Baroness or All Them Witches. It's a bit jarring to watch these extreme metal veterans playing something this melodic, but the current quintet sounds incredibly locked-in. Daniel Kesler started this thing in 2018 with Andrzej Nowak (who left back in 2022) and honestly, they've found a great groove without him.
Au lieu de ça, ils viennent de sortir cette vidéo live pour « Shallows » et c'est du pur rock progressif lourd. Pensez à Baroness ou All Them Witches. C'est un peu déconcertant de voir ces vétérans du metal extrême jouer quelque chose d'aussi mélodique, mais le quintette actuel sonne incroyablement soudé. Daniel Kesler a lancé ce projet en 2018 avec Andrzej Nowak (qui est parti en 2022) et honnêtement, ils ont trouvé un super groove sans lui.
The track is a live companion to their self-released album Through the Night Again, a short, sharp 6-track record that dropped in April. Tomasz Zalewski handled the live audio mix for the session, and it's got a great, thick grit to it. No studio tricks. It actually hits harder than a lot of over-polished studio rock records you hear these days.
Le morceau est un compagnon live de leur album auto-produit Through the Night Again, un disque court et incisif de 6 titres sorti en avril. Tomasz Zalewski s'est occupé du mixage audio live pour la session, et le son a un super grain épais. Pas d'astuces studio. Ça frappe même plus fort que beaucoup de disques rock studio surpolitis qu'on entend ces jours-ci.
If you still buy physical stuff, you can grab the CD on Bandcamp. Otherwise, just watch them play rock on YouTube and wonder how the hell they hide their death metal day jobs so well.
