There are plenty of bands that fade once the initial hype wears off. Beartooth have done the opposite. More than a decade after Caleb Shomo launched the project as an intensely personal outlet, the band has grown into one of the biggest names in modern heavy rock without completely losing that emotional honesty that made those early releases connect in the first place.

Their sixth studio album, Pure Ecstasy, arrives on August 28th, 2026, and also marks a new chapter as the band's first release through Fearless Records.

The title track has already landed, and if it's any indication of what's coming, Shomo isn't interested in easing listeners into this new era. "Pure Ecstasy" opens with a wall of massive riffs before settling into the kind of emotional tension that has always been one of Beartooth's strongest qualities. Heavy without feeling forced, melodic without becoming predictable, it immediately feels like a statement of intent.

Pure Ecstasy is not just a first single; it feels like a mission statement. Shomo has always treated opening tracks as a doorway into an album, and this one clearly follows that philosophy. Built with the help of Misha Mansoor and later refined alongside Jordan Fish, the song embraces the band's chaotic side without sounding trapped by its past. It's loud, immediate and slightly unhinged, the kind of track designed to hit you before you have time to prepare.

One of the more interesting aspects of this record is how much broader the creative process became. Earlier Beartooth albums were largely Caleb Shomo's personal studio project. This time, the circle is noticeably wider. Jordan Fish helped shape the writing and production, Skyler Acord also contributed during the early stages, and the band's touring lineup became part of the recording process, giving the album a more collective identity.

Les premiers albums de Beartooth étaient en grande partie le projet studio personnel de Caleb Shomo. Cette fois, le cercle est nettement plus large. That doesn't mean Beartooth have abandoned what made them successful. The emotional core is still there. If previous records often felt like a fight for survival, Pure Ecstasy seems more interested in what comes afterwards. Not because everything is suddenly fine, but because learning to live with both the highs and the lows is a different battle altogether.

I've only heard the opening single so far, but it does exactly what a lead track should. It leaves enough unanswered questions to make the wait for the full album feel considerably longer.
