Nostalgia has a funny way of making old extreme metal sound ground‑breaking when it might have just been fast and loud. Lost albums that build up near‑mythic reputations often fall flat once you put them back on after almost two decades. I hit play on "Wisdom And Corruption" half‑expecting the hyper‑speed drum programming to sound dated or cheap. But within thirty seconds, that raw wall of industrial noise just steamrolled right over my doubts. What caught me off guard isn't just the sheer tempo, it's how genuinely ugly and uncomfortable the production still feels.
J'avoue avoir été sceptique quand j'ai appris que The Reawakening allait enfin bénéficier d'une réédition officielle. La nostalgie a une façon amusante de faire paraître le vieux metal extrême révolutionnaire alors qu'il était peut‑être juste rapide et bruyant. Les albums perdus qui acquièrent une réputation quasi mythique retombent souvent une fois qu'on les réécoute après près de deux décennies. J'ai lancé « Wisdom And Corruption » en m'attendant à moitié à ce que la programmation batterie hyper‑rapide sonne datée ou bon marché. Tracks like "Evolution Of Aggression" don't feel like a trip down memory lane; they feel dangerously alive. I ended up putting my headphones down after "An Unforgotten Force" just to process how relentless the pacing actually is. If you missed this back in the day or only heard about it through old file‑sharing forums, hearing it properly remastered makes it pretty obvious why this band was in a league of its own.
Quand « Disassembly Line » a démarré, j'ai cessé de l'écouter comme un artefact historique. La façon dont les guitares grindantes s'accordent avec les voix abrasives de Luke Kenny donne à l'album une énergie désordonnée et déjantée que le metal moderne quantifié par ordinateur n'a pas du tout.
