I started my dive into this record with the single "Gipfelthron", and that track alone gives a pretty clear picture of what Wallfahrer is building here. Clocking in at over 11 minutes, it doesn't rush. It builds around steady mid‑tempo tremolo picking, dense basslines, and a sharp melodic thread that keeps the atmosphere heavy without turning into a chaotic wall of noise. The guitars stay cold, but there's enough room in the mix for the lead work to actually breathe.

J'ai commencé ma plongée dans cet album avec le single « Gipfelthron », et ce seul morceau donne une image assez claire de ce que Wallfahrer construit ici. Avec ses plus de 11 minutes, il ne se précipite pas. Il se construit autour d'un tremolo picking mid‑tempo régulier, de lignes de basse denses et d'un fil mélodique tranchant qui maintient l'atmosphère lourde sans se transformer en un mur de bruit chaotique. Les guitares restent froides, mais il y a assez d'espace dans le mix pour que le lead puisse respirer.

Eleven‑minute Black Metal tracks can easily turn into a test of patience if the ideas run dry halfway through, but this one holds its weight right to the end. It's not something you throw on casually in the background: it needs the right mood, a bit of quiet, and preferably some darkness around it. If the rest of Knochenkabinett keeps the level of focus shown on "Gipfelthron", this entire 58‑minute journey is going to be well worth sinking some serious time into.
Les morceaux de black metal de onze minutes peuvent facilement devenir un test de patience si les idées s'épuisent à mi‑parcours, mais celui‑ci tient jusqu'au bout. Ce n'est pas quelque chose qu'on met en fond sonore : il faut la bonne ambiance, un peu de silence, et de préférence un peu d'obscurité autour. Si le reste de Knochenkabinett garde le niveau de concentration montré sur « Gipfelthron », ce voyage de 58 minutes mérite vraiment qu'on y plonge sérieusement.
