Review: Pieces Of Molly - "Skinwalker"
NEW ZEALAND ACTION ROCKERS PLAY IT WITH GREASY, UNPOLISHED ENERGY THAT DEMANDS MAXIMUM VOLUME
When a band proudly introduces themselves as the illegitimate child of a Motörhead and AC/DC one‑night stand, you generally know what you're getting into before pressing play. New Zealand's Pieces Of Molly aren't here to reinvent action rock, but on new single "Skinwalker," they play it with the kind of greasy, unpolished energy that makes you want to turn the volume past reason. The opening seconds jump out with a riff that shamelessly ripped straight from Lenny Kravitz's "Are You Gonna Go My Way," but the track doesn't linger on nostalgia for long. It quickly shifts gears into a fast, punked‑up garage rock assault that leans heavily into Supersuckers territory. The track packs a genuinely blistering mid‑song guitar solo that elevates the whole thing above a basic three‑chord sprint, while the rhythm section keeps the pace relentless.

Les Néo‑Zélandais de Pieces Of Molly ne sont pas là pour réinventer l'action rock, mais sur leur nouveau single « Skinwalker », ils le jouent avec ce genre d'énergie graisseuse et non polie qui donne envie de pousser le volume au‑delà du raisonnable. Les premières secondes surgissent avec un riff allègrement copié sur « Are You Gonna Go My Way » de Lenny Kravitz, mais le morceau ne s'attarde pas longtemps dans la nostalgie. Il change rapidement de vitesse pour se transformer en un assaut garage rock rapide et punkisé qui penche fortement du côté des Supersuckers. Le morceau contient un solo de guitare en milieu de parcours véritablement incendiaire qui élève l'ensemble au‑dessus d'un simple sprint à trois accords, tandis que la section rythmique maintient un rythme implacable.

Ahead of their upcoming album and their first UK tour supporting Asomvel this November, "Skinwalker" does exactly what a teaser single should do: hit hard, leave a mark, and get out of the way.
