Album / Single Spotlight: SPACEDRIFTER - "Meantime"
SWEDISH ALTERNATIVE ROCK QUARTET DELIVERS A HEAVY, UNHURRIED GROOVE ON ITS NEW DIY SINGLE
Hailing from the plains of Västergötland, a region often called "Schlätta" in Sweden, alternative rock quartet Spacedrifter has developed its own take on heavy rock since forming in 2019. Blending 90s alternative rock, grunge, and stoner elements with clear nods to bands like Queens of the Stone Age and Kyuss, the band follows up their 2024 debut full‑length When The Colors Fade with a new single, “Meantime,” released on September 25, 2026.
Composed, recorded, and produced entirely on a DIY basis in their own studio, “Meantime” relies on an unhurried, heavy groove. The track opens with an atmospheric thirty‑second stretch of static crackle before a deep, rolling bassline anchors the sound. As the drums eventually drop in, they clear the path for raw, driving grunge and hard‑rock guitar riffs that maintain a deliberate momentum throughout.
With Adam Hante, Isac Löfgren, John Söderberg, and Olle Söderberg making up the lineup, Spacedrifter operates as a close‑knit quartet. Building upon their 2021 self‑titled EP and early singles such as Cabin Fever, “Meantime” finds Spacedrifter sticking to what they do best: heavy grooves, rough‑edged guitars, and a healthy dose of grunge.
