Buckle up, metalheads, because Lovelorn Dolls are back, and they're taking us on a gothic rollercoaster ride with their latest album, "Deadtime Stories." Hailing from the heart of Brussels, this duo—Kristell (vocals, lyrics, arrangements) and Bernard (music, programming, guitars, production)—has once again proven why they are a force to be reckoned with in the goth rock scene. Signed to the renowned Belgian label Alfa Matrix, Lovelorn Dolls blend the eerie allure of Tim Burton’s visuals with the glamorous darkness of The Birthday Massacre and the extravagant theatrics of Marilyn Manson.

Released on May 24, 2024, "Deadtime Stories" was mixed and produced in Rome by maXX Maryan of Helalyn Flowers. This album is an invitation to step into a world where the cute and creepy coexist, creating a soundscape that's as enchanting as it is haunting.

From the very first track, it’s clear that Lovelorn Dolls have concocted a potent brew of influences. Fans of Garbage, Lacuna Coil, The Birthday Massacre, Evanescence, and Theater of Tragedy will feel right at home with the band's signature blend of rock, goth, and electro-metal. Each song is a journey through a darkly romantic landscape, with Kristell's ethereal vocals leading the charge against a backdrop of Bernard’s masterful programming and guitar work.

"Deadtime Stories" is more than just an album; it’s a collection of tales that explore the shadows of the human psyche. Tracks like "Nightmare's Lullaby" and "Haunted Heart" are perfect examples of the duo’s ability to merge haunting melodies with punchy guitar riffs and electronic elements. Kristell’s lyrical prowess shines through, weaving narratives that are both personal and fantastical, capturing the listener’s imagination.

"Deadtime Stories" is a testament to their evolution and dedication to their craft. Kristell’s vocals are more captivating than ever, and Bernard’s production skills have reached new heights. The album is a cohesive yet diverse collection of tracks that keep you engaged from start to finish.

For me, the standout track has to be "Diary Of Nothing" a perfect encapsulation of what Lovelorn Dolls do best—melding dark, introspective lyrics with a sound that's both heavy and melodic. This track, like the rest of the album, demonstrates their unique ability to make you want to headbang and ponder the mysteries of life all at once.

In "Deadtime Stories", Lovelorn Dolls have crafted an album that is as beautiful as it is eerie. If you’re a fan of gothic rock with a modern twist, this is one album you won’t want to miss. So, light a candle, draw the curtains, and let Lovelorn Dolls take you on a journey into the darkly romantic world they’ve so masterfully created.
