Upcoming Release:
Canadian Glam Metal Gelatin Skelatin Have Some "Big Trouble" With New Album Out August 2024
Hold onto your leather pants and tease that hair, because Canadian glam metal maestros GELATIN SKELATIN are back, and they’re bringing “Big Trouble” with them! Dropping on August 9th, 2024 via SRS/MVD Entertainment, their new album is set to transport you straight back to the glory days of '80s rock. It’s time to crank up the volume, throw on your brightest spandex, and get ready to rock like it’s 1989!
The album kicks off with the lead single and music video “VHS”, a nostalgia-infused anthem that’s all about those sun-soaked days and rock-fueled nights of the late '80s. As frontman Brett Kelly puts it, “It makes the listener mentally revisit the days when going to the beach and requesting '80s hard rock on the radio was the way we spent our time. It was some of the best times of my life and I wanted to capture that feeling in a song.”
And boy, does it capture it. The album features nine tracks, including “Ship of Fools” and “Scream and Scream Again,” penned by Juno Award-winning Mike Trebilcock of The Killjoys, with mastering by Harry Hess of Harem Scarem fame. It’s a glam metal feast that promises a rollercoaster ride of riffs, solos, and anthemic choruses.
But Gelatin Skelatin isn't just about the music; it’s about the show. Every gig is an arena rock extravaganza, no matter the venue. Think lots of running around, leather-clad antics, and rock-star swagger. It’s the brainchild of Ottawa-based vocalist Brett Kelly, who finally brought his vision of an old-school glam metal band to life five years ago. Joining him on this rock revival journey are guitarists Sebastien Thisdelle and Myles “Slam” Rourke (ex-Annihilator), bassist Billy Jessup, and drummer Joel Agnew.
“I had the idea to form an old-school glam metal band brimming for over a decade, and I finally decided to take the plunge around 5 years ago,” says Kelly. “This record is for the love of the retro glam experience. I want fans to remember the good old days when rock was fun and rock stars looked like rock stars. People who want that arena rock experience should get a kick out of us".

Final Thoughts:
Gelatin Skelatin’s “Big Trouble” is a time machine back to when glam metal ruled the airwaves. It’s fun, it’s loud, and it’s unapologetically retro. Brett Kelly and his crew have nailed the sound and the spirit of an era when rock was larger than life. So, slap on those shades, crank it to 11, and get ready to party like it’s 1989. This album is not just a tribute to glam metal; it’s a revival.
