Alright, prog rock and metal lovers, listen up! Groove Therapist, the Athens-based band that wowed us with their debut concept album, “Mr. Funker The Myth”, back in 2015, is back with another epic journey. Their sophomore album, “Monologue”, has been out for a bit now, and if you haven’t dived into it yet, what are you waiting for?
 
This time, Groove Therapist takes us on a deep, introspective trip. “Monologue” tells the story of Kassandros, a man grappling with his mortality after a devastating diagnosis. Imagine the stages of grief painted in every shade of grey and black, with denial, anger, sadness, and, finally, a touch of acceptance—all set to some seriously powerful music. It’s a raw, emotional ride, folks.
 
You can feel the band’s heart and soul in every note. They’ve created a musical prism that reflects the highs and lows of life’s final chapter. “Monologue” isn’t just an album; it’s a personal and deeply moving piece of art. It’s like Groove Therapist is telling us, “Hey, life’s short. Make it count".
 
In their own words, the band says: “The songs on this album capture different steps of the journey. Each person experiences these steps in their own way. We dived into literature and talked to experts in mental health to better capture our character’s psychological state and his journey towards the end".

Who are Groove Therapist?
Formed in Athens, Greece, in 2012, Groove Therapist blends rock, metal, funk, and classical music into a unique sonic experience. Their debut album, “Mr. Funker, The Myth", dropped in 2015 and was hailed as one of the best progressive rock concept albums of the last two decades. And let’s not forget their groundbreaking live recording at Sierra Studios in Athens in 2017, which set a new standard for live performances in the Greek prog scene.
 
They’ve also rocked the Soundart Festival in Romania twice, alongside big names like Stoned Jesus and Nightstalker, and played numerous gigs in Athens, sharing the stage with POEM and September Code. Their track “Mirror of Reality” even made it onto the 2017 ProgPower USA CD collection. Not too shabby, huh?
