First off, let’s talk vocalists. Alase really outdid themselves here. I mean, not one, not two, but four incredible guest vocalists grace this EP. You’ve got the dark and mysterious tones of Rioghan Darcy (Rioghan), the raw power of Juha Tretjakov (Vansidian, Pressure Points), the unique stylings of Omar Zouiter (Antivalent), and of course, Alase’s very own Janne Lunnas, who not only kills it on guitar but throws down some fierce screams too. These voices take the EP from heavy and brooding to soaring and emotional—it’s a true rollercoaster, but without the nausea.
And speaking of a ride, each track feels like its own journey. "Broken Pendulum" kicks things off with Omar Zouiter on clean vocals and Janne Lunnas on those gritty, Gojira-inspired screams. This track is a banger and really sets the mood. Then, the EP switches gears with the beautifully intense "Love Crime", where Lunnas teams up with Rioghan Darcy for a duet that brings out new dimensions of Alase’s sound.
