Earthburner spun into existence when Jeremy Wagner of Broken Hope was on a creative quest during the band’s “hibernation period” back in 2002. Named after the heart-thumping track "Earth Burner" from the Grotesque Blessings album, they emerged with a clear mission. These guys are all about delivering unapologetic grind songs dripping with themes of afterworld bleakness and contemporary horror. Seriously, talk about an intense vibe!
With Wagner crafting the sonic narratives and demoing in various studios since day one, Earthburner has become his top priority, racking up a devoted global following along the way. Their debut EP, recorded in 2011 at Mercenary Digital Studios with the wizard of sound, Scott Creekmore, set the stage for what was to come.
Fast forward to late 2011, just when Earthburner seemed poised for greatness, fate intervened. Wagner was approached to reform Broken Hope with Mike Miczek, but Earthburner wasn’t left behind! They kept the engine running, with Wagner and Miczek actively churning out new music and art designs for the band. Talk about dedication!
Then in March 2023, Wagner became laser-focused on Earthburner. They decided it was high time for a full-length album, and soon after, Wagner’s stepson, Tyler Affinito from Gloryhole Guillotine, joined as bassist. It’s all in the family, right? 
Now, here’s where things get exciting: Devin Swank was brought in to handle vocals after parting ways with the band. Fun fact: Tyler received a message from the vocalist of Sanguisugabogg, asking if he wanted to join a grind band and wondering what Jeremy was up to. And just like that, the stars aligned! Swank enthusiastically joined the crew, and off they went to record.
In April 2023, Earthburner invaded the legendary Criteria Recording Studios in Miami, where they laid down the heavy tracks for Permanent Dawn. The vocal sessions? That went down at Hypercube Studios in Chicago. The icing on the cake? They brought in Mitch Harris, the Napalm Death guitar hero, as an honorary member and side-vocalist! How cool is that?!
But they weren’t just satisfied with that; heavy hitters Ross Dolan of Immolation and Jake Cannavale of Vixen Maw also lent their vocal prowess to this sonic journey. Talk about a formidable lineup!
To tie all that fiery chaos together, Permanent Dawn was mixed by the ever-reliable Scott Creekmore and mastered by the legendary Mike Fuller at Fullersound. This collaboration means you're in for a listening experience that packs a real punch!
